Force India-duo vrij om tegen elkaar te racen in Brazilië

Force India-coureurs Sergio Perez en Esteban Ocon hebben toestemming gekregen om komend weekend in Brazilië weer tegen elkaar te racen. De Indiase renstal heft het verbod op onderlinge duels op omdat de vierde plaats in het kampioenschap voor constructeurs nu zeker is.

Perez bevestigde in Sao Paulo: "Hier in Brazilië en ook over twee weken in Abu Dhabi zijn Esteban en ik vrij om zonder teamorders te racen." Force India greep eerder dit seizoen in nadat het tweetal meermaals met elkaar in aanvaring was gekomen op de baan.

Perez is tevreden over zijn eigen prestaties en over hoe het seizoen 2017 is verlopen voor Force India. "Het is een ongelooflijk jaar geweest. Ik ben zeer trots op ons team." De Mexicaan staat zelf zevende in het kampioenschap voor coureurs, negen punten voor teamgenoot Ocon.
