Sergio Perez: "Eindelijk weer eens een goede kwalificatie"

Voor Force India-coureur Sergio Perez verliepen de kwalificaties de laatste tijd niet naar wens, waardoor de Mexicaan in de races de schade moest zien te herstellen. In Sao Paulo viel het echter de goede kant op en reed Perez een keurige zesde tijd. Door de gridstraf van Daniel Ricciardo mag Perez de race als vijfde beginnen, tot vreugde van de Mexicaan zelf.

"Het ging erg goed, dit stemt mij zeer tevreden. De laatste tijd had ik het om een of andere reden moeilijk in de kwalificatie. Het was wel een uitdaging om door te stoten naar Q3, het middenveld is erg competitief. Woorden van dank gaan uit naar het team: zij hebben uitgezocht waarom het niet liep bij mij de laatste tijd in de kwalificatie en hebben me een goede auto gegeven. Ik hoop dat we in de race ook goed voor de dag kunnen komen, een beetje regen zou welkom zijn", aldus Perez in een reactie op de officiële website van Force India.

Aan de andere kant van de garage was Esteban Ocon minder blij. De Fransman kwam niet verder dan een elfde tijd in de kwalificatie.
