Red Bull blijft investeren in jonge talentvolle coureurs

De jeugd heeft de toekomst. Dat motto draagt Red Bull hoog in het vaandel. De energiedrankenfabrikant is dan ook zeer te spreken over het opleidingsprogramma. Hoewel de aanwas voor de Formule 1 wat lijkt te stokken gezien de keuze voor de al wat oudere Brendon Hartley bij Scuderia Toro Rosso, blijft Red Bull investeren in autosporttalenten.

Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner: "Red Bull heeft jonge karters van 13 of 14 jaar aan zich gebonden. We hebben enkele opwindende talenten in de Formule 4. We blijven investeren in jong talent. Een van onze coureurs heeft de Macau Grand Prix gewonnen (Daniel Ticktum, red.), dat toont aan dat het programma werkt. Als er geen ruimte is bij Red Bull Racing, krijgen onze talenten de kans om hun vleugels uit te slaan."

"We staan er ook niet onwelwillend tegenover om hen beschikbaar te stellen voor andere teams. Pierre Gasly en Brendon Hartley kunnen blijven waar ze zitten, bij Toro Rosso, om zich daar verder te ontwikkelen. We kunnen doen wat we hebben gedaan met Carlos Sainz en ze beschikbaar maken om uit te lenen. Voor ons draait het volledig om het hebben van opties en investeren in talent en jeugd."

Dennis Hauger (14 jaar, Noorwegen), Jack Doohan (14 jaar, Australië) en de twee 13-jarige Britten Harry Thompson en Johnny Edgar worden per 2018 toegevoegd aan het Red Bull Junior Team. Van Niko Kari en Richard Verschoor is al bekend dat ze de opleiding van Red Bull zullen verlaten.

  Nee ze kwamen erachter dat toen zij Max dat contract gaven het eigenlijk een beetje te laat was....vandaar nu nog jonger. Zie je bij het voetbal ook.

  Ze pikten ze toch altijd al jonger op? Max was gewoon eerder niet geïnteresseerd omdat Jos zijn programma zo lang mogelijk in eigen hand wilde houden.

  dat is ook de uberdeal met RB geweest. Jos bleef wachten en wist wat hij in huis had. Die ging niet nogeens op zijn bek. Zeker ook omdat hij wist dat hij elke kant op kon. Het was een masterstroke van RB om dit te doen. En wie risico durft te nemen..

  Voor mij de laatste grote wereldkampioen in de motor racerij. Vale ten spijt. Daarna is het bergafwaarts gegaan met de introductie van de 4 takt.
  Benieuwd wat zijn zoon kan. Heb wel dingen gehoord. Maar niet dat hij echt uitermate goed was. Gewoon goed.

  Ik weet dat Rossi de laatste kampioen op een 2 takt is geweest. Maar ik heb niks met Rossi. Ik had veel meer met Doohan. Een harde norse eigenwijze bikkel die niet continue in de spotlights hoeft te staan.

Maakt volgend seizoen niet uit wie er bij STR rijdt wordt vast een jaar om te testen en doorontwikkeling van dat Honda torretje er zullen wel veel gritt penalty’s komen voor die twee
