'Daniil Kvyat gefocust op carrière in de Formule 1'

Daniil Kvyat heeft geen interesse in een avontuur in de NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. De Rus nam gisteren deel aan de recruitment test van de Europese NASCAR-tak op het circuit van Franciacorta, maar dat was puur voor de lol. Hij is niet uit op een stoeltje in die klasse.

Kvyat richt zich vooralsnog op een toekomst in de Formule 1, beweert Jerome Galpin van de Europese NASCAR tegenover Auto Hebdo. "Daniil heeft genoten van het rijden in een auto die niet vol zit met allerlei extra systemen zoals in de Formule 1. Maar deze test was enkel voor zijn plezier. Kvyat is gefocust op een carrière in de Formule 1 en een overstap naar de NASCAR Whelen Euro Series behoort momenteel niet tot zijn plannen."

Williams is het enige team waar nog een plaatsje vrij is voor 2018, maar de Britse renstal lijkt de voorkeur te geven aan iemand anders. Robert Kubica en Sergey Sirotkin maken meer kans dan Kvyat, die eerder dit jaar aan de kant geschoven werd door Red Bull en Scuderia Toro Rosso. Zijn teller staat nu op 72 Grand Prix-starts, waarin hij 133 punten wist te verzamelen.

      Gewoon geloofwaardig. Daniil hoopt nog steeds op de F1, dat heeft zijn prioriteit. Neem aan dat hij ook beseft dat zijn kansen gering zijn en daarom kijkt hij al wat verder dan zijn neus lang is. Niks vreemds aan toch?

      Dan moet hij wel bewijzen dat hij nooit aan de doping heeft gezeten. En aan zijn blik te zien gaat dat niet lukken :-)

      @rogier hier: er zit een flinke lading cafeine in, plus taurine. Vooral door de cafeine houdt het spul je wel wakker, maar het werkt niet concentratieverhogend. De enige doping die echt werkt in de autosport is Adderall, een middel waar vooral in de Nascar en IMSA mee werd geëxperimenteerd en waar je rustiger en beter geconcentreerd van wordt.
