Ocon trekt zich niets aan van plaagstootjes van Perez

Force India-coureur Esteban Ocon hecht geen waarde aan uitspraken van Sergio Perez dat zijn teamgenoot volgend jaar meer onder druk zal komen te staan. De Fransman heeft de lat door een puik eerste volledige seizoen in de Formule 1 hoog gelegd en daarmee verwachtingen geschapen.

Ocon heeft daar geen enkele moeite mee, geeft hij in gesprek met Auto Hebdo aan. "Sergio vindt het leuk om zulke dingen in de media te roepen. Dat hoort bij het spelletje. Ik blijf gewoon mijn werk doen en ik voel met niet extra onder druk staan voor volgend seizoen."

De twee Force India-rijders kregen het dit jaar wel vaker met elkaar aan de stok, zowel op als naast de baan. Als gevolg daarvan zou Mercedes-motorsportbaas Toto Wolff nu kunnen aarzelen om Ocon naast Lewis Hamilton te plaatsen. Hij zit niet te wachten op interne strubbelingen.

Ocon: "Ik heb met Toto gesproken en zulke incidenten mogen zich niet meer voordoen. Sergio en ik begrijpen allebei dat we dit seizoen over de schreef zijn gegaan en zo kansen om meer punten te scoren hebben verprutst. Al was het qua resultaten wel het beste seizoen uit de geschiedenis van Force India en onze rivaliteit heeft daar ook een rol in gespeeld."

"Ik snap dat het team nu meer van mij verwacht, aangezien ik komend seizoen geen rookie meer ben. Sinds ik de Formule 1 heb bereikt ervaar ik echter geen stress meer. Het is een genot om op het hoogste niveau te racen, zo benader ik het."

    Ocon moet komend seizoen Perez gewoon elke race verslaan. In kwali, in de races en in wk punten. Dat is zijn ticket naar een Mercedes stoeltje. Oja en geen domme fouten maken...

      Hebben jullie Ocon zijn Twitter afgelopen jaar gevolgd? Dan kunnen jullie zien dat Ocon zelf niet vies is van het spelen van smerige spelletjes.
      Dit zal voor Toto en het management van Mercedes ook in overweging worden genomen bij de rijderskeuze voor het seizoen 2019-2020.

      Als ie het beste jonge talent na Verstappen is en doorgroeit denk ik niet dat het getwitter van Ocon een probleem zal zijn.
      Volgens mij slingerde een of andere Hamilton ooit setupdata of telemetrie gegevens van Button het interwebs op als “geintje” ?

      Dat getwitter zie ik ook niet als probleem, maar Ocon moet wel doorpakken op de baan. Velen (me too) verwachten wel dat hij Perez de baas zal gaan zijn, maar het moet nog wel eerst ff gebeuren.

    Hij heeft een punt,,, het hoort bij het spelletje... zie je overal in de F1 als teamgenoten redelijk gelijkwaardig zijn dat er dit soort blah, blah, blah in de pers komt ... Hamilton dit jaar reuze blij met zn teamgenoot,, Vettel zeer tevreden over zn teamgenoot ... Als het straks nog ergens omgaat bij RB zal de verhouding Verstappen Ricciardo ook niet meer de hele dag lachen zijn.. het hoort bij het spelletje...

    Beetje vreemde uitspraak dat Toto zou twijfelen om Ocon naast Hamilton te zetten, hij riep pas nog dat Bottas Hamilton meer onder druk moest zetten. Denk dat Ocon daar een goede in is, en daar horen crashes bij.

      Eens tot aan je laatste zin, je teamgenoot van de baan rammen is ‘not done’. Eén keer kan nog eens gebeuren maar daarna heeft elke coureur minimaal een stevig gesprek met de teamleiding.

      onzin Larry, het ene komt met het andere. dat is juist waar er dingen gebeuren waarvan je zegt dat het niet kon, of discutabel is. Dat heb je met Ocon. Dat had je met Bottas niet.

      Nee geen onzin, jij zit er naast @Neppatsrev, zo werden Rosberg en Hamilton stevig aangepakt in Spanje 2016 en Max had de GP na Hongarije Ricciardo ook niet nog eens van de baan moeten rammen.

      nee, maar dat krijg je met teamgenoten die aan elkaar gewaagd zijn. Het màg niet gebeuren, maar het gebeurt toch. Ham/Ros- Max/Ricc - Ocon/Perez en ik ben benieuwd naar Hul/Sainz komend jaar. Maar dat het zonder kan hebben ze bij RB ook laten zien.

    Ocon heeft een goed jaar gereden, 2018 zal zeker moeilijker worden, met Renault en waarschijnlijk McLaren voor hun. Als Ocon niet sneller dan Perez is dan komt hij echt niet in een Mercedes in 2019 al denk ik toch dat Mercedes dat niet zou doen.
