Hartley trapt eerste testweek af namens Toro Rosso

Scuderia Toro Rosso heeft het testschema voor de eerste wintertest van 2018 geopenbaard. Brendon Hartley neemt morgen de eerste dag op het Circuit de Catalunya voor zijn rekening. Dinsdag is teamgenoot Pierre Gasly aan de beurt om te testen met de nieuwe STR13.

Het opleidingsteam van Red Bull heeft die bolide nog niet officieel gepresenteerd, dat gebeurt maandag voor aanvang van de eerste testdag. Toro Rosso heeft afgelopen week wel al een shakedown op het circuit van Misano verricht met de nieuwe auto.

Veel ogen zullen gericht zijn op de prestaties van Honda. Na drie magere seizoenen nam McLaren afscheid van de Japanse autofabrikant. Voor 2018 sloeg Honda de handen ineen met Toro Rosso, dat hoopt dat Honda geleerd heeft van de voorbije drie jaar.

Het zou mooi zijn als de STR13 met de Honda motor snel en betrouwbaar zou zijn.

    Het zou mooi zijn als de STR13 met de Honda motor snel en betrouwbaar zou zijn.

    Die morgen testen hebben geluk met het weer, voor de rest van de week ziet het er niet best uit met de weersverwachting.

    Ik verwacht dat als Hartley niet in de buurt komt van Gasly qua rondetijden, dat ze hem alsnog gaan vervangen voorafgaande aan de eerste GP.

      Ik niet. Hartley is een rijder met heel veel ervaring in allerlei auto's en dat hebben ze bij STR nu net nodig met de nieuwe motor in de auto. Hij kan aangeven wat er gebeurt en de auto mee verbeteren. Die ervaring heeft Gasly nog niet.

      Ik ben ook niet onder de indruk van Hartley maar momenteel hebben ze geen alternatief.

      Heb jij een beter alternatief? Want er is niemand in de Red Bull academy die op dit moment beschikbaar is.

      Ik vind die Hartley een aardige gozer voor de camera, maar is toch geen top coureur en F1 waardig wat ik in 2017 heb gezien. Maar misschien gaat hij nog verrassen!

      Ik denk ook dat Gasly sneller is , maar Hartley is wel de man die met heel veel auto's heeft gereden en in andere klassen wel bekend stond als een rijder die wist over te brengen wat een auto deed en deze ook mee kon helpen verbeteren. Wel belangrijk nu voor STR.
