Foto's: Eerste 'track walks' op circuit van Albert Park

De Formule 1-teams en coureurs maken zich in Melbourne op voor de start van het seizoen 2018. Zo voltooiden de rijders vandaag al hun eerste track walks op het circuit van Albert Park, was het in de paddock een weerzien van oude bekenden, speelden Force India-coureurs Sergio Perez en Esteban Ocon een potje tennis op een van de banen voor de Australian Open en was Red Bull Racing-duo Max Verstappen en Daniel Ricciardo met verfspuitbussen in de weer.

      Ik weet dat ie door de meesten hier hoog gewaardeerd wordt, maar zelf heb ik me altijd gestoord aan de eindeloze hoeveelheid historische en editing fouten, met name totaal verknalde montage van de start van de race. Van de timing klopt geen hout, men stopt Hans Stuck in de verkeerde auto, men vergeet dat de originele startopstelling baksteensgewijs was. Dan hebben we nog die potsierlijke pits-scène waarbij Hunt dwars door zijn achterligger heen kijkt, het houterige spel van Daniel Brühl, het totaal negeren van talloze markante karakters uit die tijd, wat de film zoveel rijker had kunnen maken, enzovoort. Je merkt echt dat de film gemaakt is door een Amerikaan die gefocused is op een sappig, goed verkopend verhaal, maar die totaal niet met F1 is opgegroeid en werkelijk de ballen verstand heeft van waar ie mee bezig is. De zogenaamde adviserende rol van Lauda zelf ten spijt. Het idee was geweldig maar de uitvoering had zoveel beter kunnen zijn. Eigenlijk is Rush een gemiste kans.

      Heb vanavond tóch behoefte aan een goede racefilm, dan ga ik Driven met Sylvester Stallone maar kijken....

      Haha. Ik had mijn bezwaren ooit op youtube neer gepend, dus toen ik er even over nadacht kwam een en ander vanzelf weer boven. :-)

    Jongens loop maar veel rondjes io alle circuits want ik denk dat er (ivm de 3 motoren regeling) nog veel minder traningsronden afgelegd gaan worden dan vorig jaar! De traningen gaan bizar saai worden!
