Haas voorzichtig tevreden over upgrades na race in Montreal

Het team van Haas is vooralsnog redelijk tevreden over de verbeteringen die het team heeft doorgevoerd aan de auto. Er werden in Canada weliswaar geen punten gescoord door Romain Grosjean en Kevin Magnussen, maar volgens teambaas Guenther Steiner lag dat niet zozeer aan de auto.

“Romain is tevreden, maar Kevin wil het beter bekijken op een normaal circuit, niet zoals in Canada", aldus Steiner. "Romain was echter positief. De data laat ook zien dat het pakket werkt. Daarnaast waren de gegevens die we dit jaar kregen van de aerodynamica-afdeling nooit verkeerd, dus waarom zouden we twijfelen."

Vooralsnog positieve geluiden bij Haas, maar aan het einde van de dag heeft de Amerikaanse renstal geen punten gescoord. Daar baalt ook teambaas Steiner van. "Over het algemeen zijn we positief, maar het negatieve is dat we wederom geen punten gescoord hebben."

Volgens de Italiaan heeft dit niets te maken met de auto, maar met het Pirelli-rubber. "De auto is snel, maar we kregen geen kans om dat te tonen. Kevin had problemen met oververhitte ultrasofts, terwijl Romain daar tevreden op was. Vervolgens was Kevin blij met de supersofts, maar Romain niet."

"Wanneer je vanuit het achterveld start, krijg je snel te maken met blauwe vlaggen. Hierdoor koelen de banden af. Je raakt in een neerwaartse spiraal en het is erg lastig om daar bovenop te komen. Toen de race begon, reden we ongeveer zestiende en zeventiende. Hier maak ik uit op dat onze auto snel is." Grosjean eindigde de race als twaalfde, Magnussen eindigde een positie lager.

Haas is snel in een neerwaartse spiraal gedoken na een veelbelovende start van het seizoen. Ik had meer van ze verwacht dit seizoen met de Ferrari van 2017, maar ze lijken nauwelijks door te ontwikkelen.

  Het wordt eens tijd dat ze 1 van die 2 eruit tieften, en een ander erin zetten, om tot een beter vergelijk te komen wat de ware potentie van deze Ferrari 2.0 is
