Force India lijkt Ocon en Perez te behouden voor 2019

Het lijkt erop dat Esteban Ocon en Sergio Perez ook volgend jaar de roze kleuren van Force India verdedigen. De positie van Ocon was al zeker, maar volgens sportief Otmar Szafnauer is Perez ook bijna zeker van zijn plekje. Szafnauer doet zijn uitspraken in gesprek met Motorsport-Total.com. Dat Ocon blijft is mogelijk een hint dat Mercedes op korte termijn bekend zal maken dat Lewis Hamilton en Valtteri Bottas ook volgend jaar zullen racen voor het Duits-Britse team. Ocon is verbonden aan Mercedes, maar onderhoudt ook nauwe banden met Renault.

Szafnauer laat in het gesprek weten dat de positie van Ocon voor volgend jaar sowieso vast ligt, maar dat er met Perez nog een nieuwe overeenkomst getekend moet worden. Szafnauer benadrukt dat het waarschijnlijke aanblijven van Perez niet meer dan een logische keuze is: "Sergio Perez pakt de kansen die hij pakken kan. Hij is goed in het managen van de banden en vrijwel nooit betrokken bij incidenten."

Perez komt sinds 2014 uit voor Force India, Ocon voegde zich begin vorig jaar bij de Brits-Indiase renstal nadat de Fransman in de tweede helft van 2016 zijn debuut maakte in de Formule 1 bij het inmiddels ter ziele gegane Manor Racing.

    Ok... het artikel van hedenochtend dat Perez dus naar Haas zou gaan misschien kunnen we gelijk in de prullenbak gooien ? zoals hier op de website staat vermeld.

    Wat valt er te winnen voor die twee lekker blijven zitten FI is een best team competitief in de middenmoot geef maar aan waar ze beter zouden zitten zolang de top 3 geen plaats maakt voor nieuwe rijders.

    Of Ocon en Perez blijven is allemaal afhankelijk van de financiële situatie van FI. Als die (bijvoorbeeld door verkoop) in orde is zullen ze blijven, maar als er toch problemen blijken te zijn zijn ze weg.
