Paddy Lowe: "We houden vast aan het concept van de huidige wagen"

Het team van Williams kent tot dusver een dramatisch seizoen. Het voormalige topteam staat troosteloos laatste in het kampioenschap en punten scoren op eigen kracht zit er niet in. Vorige week introduceerde het team een nieuwe achtervleugel, maar ook dit aerodynamische onderdeel bleek een flop: tijdens de kwalificatie vlogen Sergey Sirotkin en Lance Stroll van de baan vanwege een probleem met de achtervleugel.

Een snelle oplossing voor de problemen lijkt er niet te zijn, gaf technisch directeur Paddy Lowe onlangs toe. Op basis van de prestaties van de huidige bolide moet Wiliams het volgend jaar mogelijk over een hele andere boeg gooien, maar op basis van de woorden van Paddy Lowe lijkt dat niet te gaan gebeuren: "We moeten vooral kijken of we de problemen met onze huidige bolide kunnen oplossen. We staan nu achteraan, maar boeken zeker wel vooruitgang met de huidige auto. Alles wat we nu kunnen verbeteren, gaat ons volgend jaar helpen. Het gaat nu niet zoals we hadden gehoopt, maar ons concept kan zeker gaan werken voor volgend seizoen."

    Heel goed Paddy lekker achteraan blijven rijden op 2 seconden en doen alsof het een super wagen is.

      Als je overtuigd bent van je concept, dan moet je leren begrijpen waarom het niet werkt zoals nu. Pas als je zeker weet dat het concept niet werkt, dan ga je het over een andere boeg gooien.
      Bij Williams is men dusdanig overtuigd van het concept wat ze hebben, dat ze er dus aan vasthouden. Of het slim is, dat zullen we met de FW42 zien.

      Heb begrepen dat hun concept eigenlijk geen concept is maar een samenraapsel van allerlei elementen afgekeken van anderen. Staat op F1 technical t een en ander over. Waarschijnlijk dus geen idee wat ze nu moeten met hun Frankenstein Wagen :)

    Mm... ‘Kan zeker gaan werken’ ... Dus volgend jaar hopen ze met het zelfde concept op een wondertje,, een eureka moment bij de ontwerpers... Erg vertrouwenwekkend klinkt het toch allemaal niet...

    De rest van het seizoen maar gebruiken als testjaar, en dan maar hopen en bidden dat de problemen snel zijn opgelost zodat de focus op de 2019 auto kan.

    Ik ben benieuwd wat het concept inhoudt. Door diverse redenen functioneert het niet met die wagen, maar Paddy heeft wel vertrouwen in “het concept”. Op zich goed om daar dan aan vast te houden, maar dan met het lek wel écht bovenkomen waardoor het nu niet werkt.

      Coureurs zijn 1 ding maar zet er een betere in en ze rijden nog achteraan, alleen dan iets minder ver weg... dat auto concept werkt gewoon ook niet..
