Perez heeft geduld met duidelijkheid over Formule 1-toekomst

Sergio Perez heeft geen haast met het vinden van een Formule 1-stoeltje voor 2019. De Mexicaan is al sinds 2014 actief voor Force India, maar een nieuw contract heeft Perez nog niet op zak. In gesprek met Motorsport-Total vertelt de Mexicaan dat hij rustig afwacht.

"We zouden natuurlijk allemaal graag bij Mercedes of Ferrari rijden, maar dat is onrealistisch voor 2019", vertelt Perez. "Je moet een optie vinden, waar je je talent het best kan tentoonstellen. In de afgelopen jaren zijn we met Force India de ‘best of the rest’ geworden en ik zal me laten informeren over wat er voor volgend seizoen mogelijk is."

Er gaan geruchten dat de vader van Lance Stroll de Indiase renstal gekocht heeft. Dit zou mogelijk gevolgen kunnen hebben voor Perez, maar de Mexicaan maakt zich niet druk. "Ik wacht af hoe de situatie omtrent Force India zich ontwikkelt, ik denk dat er veel potentie in dit team zit."
