Norris opgewonden: "Vrije training zal geweldige ervaring worden"

Lando Norris kan niet wachten om voor het eerst tijdens een Grand Prix-weekend achter het stuur van de McLaren te duiken. Dat zegt de Brit tegen TheCheckteredFlag.com. De Carlin-rijder zal dit weekend op Spa ook rijden in de Formule 2.

"Om in de eerste vrije training op Spa te mogen rijden is fantastisch en het zal een geweldige ervaring worden. Daarnaast voelt het sowieso goed om weer te gaan racen. Spa is mijn favoriete circuit, dus ik kijk er naar uit om daar weer te kunnen rijden. Maar ik heb ook een heerlijke vakantie gehad vanaf de test in Hongarije."

Regen hangt dit weekend in de lucht in de Ardennen, maar Norris vindt dat niet erg. "In het verleden ging ik hier erg goed in de Formule 4 en 3. Het weer is altijd veranderlijk en na het beleven van het eerste gedeelte van de hoofdrace in Hongarije, zou ik regen helemaal niet erg vinden."

"Maar regen of niet, op het circuit van Spa kun je in de Formule 2 sowieso goed inhalen. Eau Rouge richting Radillion en Pouhon, een lastige, dubbele linker. Dat zijn de hoogtepunten van het circuit voor mij. Het team en ik gaan vol vertrouwen de training en kwalificatie in, op weg naar de races."

Dus als ik het goed begrijp is Alonso moeten vertrekken om dat Stoffel binnen een halve sec. Van hem zat dus ??? Wel wel ...

    Ik hoop dat het een mooie training wordt voor Lando. Hij verdient het.
    Stiekem zit ik nog de hele tijd te wachten op het bericht dat Lance Stroll dit weekend uit zal komen voor FI en Kubica bij Williams.

      Inderdaad, ik vind ook dat hij de kans verdiend (waarvoor deze ook dient). Persoonlijk ken ik Lando al weer een tijd via iRacing. Daar is hij al jaren te vinden, meestal in de GT3, of IMSA klasse. Leuke gast, goede kop, eerlijk, en oprecht. Oh, en hij kan met momenten ontzettend grappig zijn. Zoek hem maar eens op op Twitch. Hij streamt regelmatig.

      On: Lando is naar mijn idee een enorm talent, en ik denk/hoop dat hij eventueel klaar is voor Formule 1 volgend jaar. McLaren, of STR? Ik ben benieuwd naar de uitkomst! ;)

      @Rick F1: Ik ook hoor, zit totaal niet te wachten op Stroll bij FI en Kubica in de Williams, maar dat verhaal is nog niet klaar denk ik.

    Ben benieuwd hoe hij het ten opzichten van Stoffel doet. Of beter gezegd wellicht, hoe Stoffel het ten opzichten van Norris doet.

      Als Norris binnen een halve seconde van Stoffel zit, en dat zou zo maar eens kunnen, dan kan Stoffel z'n spullen pakken denk ik.

      Oeps ik wil me plusje graag terug @K.W, was niet de bedoeling.

      Maar wat ik wou zeggen, Stoffel heeft al anderhalf seizoen de tijd gehad om een beetje te oefenen. Geen deuk in een pakje boter gereden. Als Norris in z'n eerste officiële training binnen een halve seconde zit, dan ziet het er heel slecht uit voor Stoffel.

      De vraag is of het een realistisch beeld gaat geven. McLaren heeft aangegeven dat er tijdens die training veel getest gaat worden. Weet iemand hoe vaak Norris al in een F1 auto heeft gereden? Speelt natuurlijk ook mee.

      Als je een 18 jarig broekje dat zich dolgraag wil bewijzen op vrijdag in de regen de opdracht geeft om een kwalificatie tegen Stoffel te rijden in een onstabiele wagen, dan vrees ik dat Alonso een extra weekje vakantie krijgt.

      Die jongens gaan specifieke opdrachten krijgen waar wij als buitenstaanders geen touw aan kunnen knopen, dus ik geloof niet veel van een “binnen een halve seconde” verhaal.

    Regen betekent weinig rijden. Want het aantal banden is dusdanig beperkt dat de race van Alonso niet in gevaar mag komen.

    We gaan Stoffel 3seconden sneller zien gaan dan Lando,........in een wagen met nieuw chassis zou dit moeten kunnen.
