Stroll blij dat vriendschap met Ocon nog blijft bestaan

Het zijn twee jongens uit heel verschillende milieus, maar Esteban Ocon en Lance Stroll zijn goed bevriend met elkaar. Dat is nog steeds het geval, ondanks de naderende aankondiging dat Stroll zijn vriend gaat vervangen bij Racing Point Force India.

De vader van Stroll kocht in augustus Force India op en verwacht werd dat zoonlief al in België of Italië aan de start zou verschijnen voor dat team. Dat is niet het geval geweest, maar hoogstwaarschijnlijk moet Ocon na dit seizoen wel plaatsmaken voor Stroll. De Fransman lijkt daardoor veroordeeld tot een rol aan de zijlijn in 2019. Ocon zou makkelijk kritiek kunnen hebben op de manier waarop Stroll aan zijn stoeltje niet, maar dat doet hij niet.

Stroll is blij met de steun van zijn vriend, zo vertelde hij PlanetF1.com. "De Formule 1 is een zakenwereld en er zijn politieke invloeden. Ik heb mijn eigen managementteam, Esteban ook. We doen beiden wat het beste is voor onze carrières, maar er is ook vriendschap. We streden tegen elkaar in de karts en nadat hij in de Formule 3 kampioen was geworden met Prema, kwam ik bij dat team. We hebben altijd een goede vriendschap gehad en het is mooi om te zien dat dat nog niet verdwenen is."

Naar kritieken van fans dat hij alles te danken heeft aan het geld van zijn vader, luistert Stroll niet. "Ik weet dat er veel jaloerse mensen zijn, zeker als je kijkt naar mijn achtergrond. De meeste mensen gunnen mij niets. Dat is prima, want ik weet dat de mensen om mij heen weten hoe de situatie echt is. Dat zijn de mensen waar ik naar luister en die ik om mij heen verzamel. De rest is geruis op de achtergrond. Ik probeer in mijn eigen bubbel te blijven en dat geruis te verdringen."

Stroll kan wel eens de duurste 19-jarige zoon zijn uit de wereldgeschiedenis. Het rijtje papa's die nóg meer hebben uitgegeven aan de carrière van hun 19-jarige zoon is denk ik kort...heel kort.

Genoeg voorbeelden van coureurs die geld meenamen om in de Formule 1 te komen maar daarna aantoonden ook in de Formule 1 thuis te horen. Papa Stroll lijkt ieder jaar meer geld neer te moeten leggen voor een stoeltje voor zijn zoon. Draai die geldkraan maar eens dicht dan weten we echt hoe de situatie is.

Ocon zou makkelijk kritiek kunnen hebben op de manier waarop Stroll aan zijn stoeltje niet, maar dat doet hij niet. .......even nalezen voor je het plaast? of gaat dit ook in het vergiet?

  Ik ben het met je eens dat het beter is om een bericht na te lezen voor je het plaatst. Maar uiteindelijk heeft het ook niet zo heel veel zin om je druk te maken over een enkel foutje in een artikel. Ik maak zelf ook te vaak beschamende spel- en taalfouten, maar dan hoop ik dat er toch in eerste instantie naar de inhoud gekeken wordt.
  
  Ik reageerde op jouw bericht ook alleen maar vanwege de ironie. Het was niet als aanval bedoeld en je hoeft je er ook niet voor te verdedigen ;)

  Dit seizoen vergaat het Haas beter dan in 2016 en 2017, dus mogelijk liggen er meer punten in het vergiet voor de Fransman.

Stroll groeit nog steeds en rijdt knap mee dit jaar. Ben benieuwd wat hij kan in 2019. Het komt zelden voor dat je een jonge coureur zijn opleiding ziet krijgen in de F1.

Je kan dit haast, ik zeg haast, dit als bevestiging zien met deze opmerkingen dat Stroll daar gaat rijden. Ja, 'natuurlijk', maar het is toch mede door zijn vader en de groep erom heen.
