Meningen coureurs verdeeld over introductie W Series

De introductie van een aparte autosportklasse voor vrouwen, de W Series, kan niet op onverdeelde steun van de Formule 1-coureurs rekenen.

Recent werd de W Series geïntroduceerd als klasse waaraan alleen vrouwen mee mogen doen. De bolides zijn gebaseerd op Formule 3-auto's en de winnares krijgt een beurs om zich verder omhoog te werken op de autosportladder. De meningen zijn niet onverdeeld. Een deel ziet de W Series als een goed initiatief waarmee meer vrouwen een kans krijgen in de autosport. Anderen zien het als een seksistisch idee, dat gebaseerd is op de veronderstelling dat vrouwen niet goed genoeg zijn om met mannen te strijden.

Ook onder de Formule 1-coureurs is er geen eensgezindheid over de klasse. Max Verstappen weigerde een echte mening te geven over de klasse, al was zijn reactie wel veelzeggend. "Iedereen heeft zijn mening, maar ik hou de mijne voor mezelf." Pierre Gasly wil de klasse wel een kans geven. "Ik zag veel tweets van mensen zie het er niet mee eens zijn, maar we moeten het eerst een kans geven voordat we erover oordelen.

Kevin Magnussen ziet de situatie het meest rooskleurig in. "Ik hoop dat de W Series eraan bijdraagt dat we meer vrouwen in de autosport kunnen verwelkomen."

    Klasse van Magnussen om zo uitgesproken te zijn. Dat ze die W series willen gebruiken om vrouwen in F1 te krijgen slaat nergens op. Dat moet gebeuren op prestaties, en niet op geslacht, maar vrijwel elke sport heeft een vrouwen en een mannen categorie, dus waarom autosport niet?

    Zal mij worst wezen , zolang het maar niet onevenredig veel gehyped wordt zoals op het moment met vrouwenvoetbal gebeurd.. Geef het gewoon de tijd, ook al duurt het jaren.. Vroeger was het dames tennis en schaatsen ook niet om aan te gluren.. nu volwaardige geacepteerde sporten...

      Het verschil met voetbal, voetbal zal altijd in mannen en vrouwen gescheiden blijven op top niveau.
      Ik zie geen F1W opgezet worden.
      Dus als vrouwen willen rijden in de F1 zullen ze zich moeten meten met mannen.

      @PIPO: Je hebt voetbal, en je hebt iets met een bal waar vrouwen chaotisch achteraan rennen. Dat laatste heet vrouwenvoetbal.

      @ARIES54 Je hebt idd een sport waarbij er eindeloos gepingeld wordt en volwassen mensen drama maken als ze een tikkie krijgen. Dat heeft (mannen) voetbal. Vrouwen voetbal is stoerder en meer actie. Dan nog is het iets met voetbal. Wat sowieso een vrij kansloze sport maar dat terzijde.

      Die vrouwenvoetbal hype is dat wereldwijd ? of is dat alleen hier omdat 'we' het eens een keer goed doen. Een beetje zoals met F1 zeg maar ;)

      @arie54. Verwarrende beschrijving. De mannen doen met hun softe gepingel aan vrouwenvoetbal en de vrouwen scoren met mannenvoetbal. Ach ik vind het beiden bagger.

    Persoonlijk zeg ik dan, wat een gezeik over seksistisch. Wanneer het fysiek voor vrouwen te zwaar zou zijn, wat is dan het probleem van een aparte klasse? Dat is geen seksisme, dat is een kwestie van natuurlijke selectie. Of zullen we dan maar gelijk alle gescheidde sporten op 1 hoop gooien en de mannen en vrouwen klassen afschaffen. Dan zijn er opeens véél minder vrouwelijke winnaars...

    Pure discriminatie. Als de dames goed genoeg zijn,kunnen zij een stoeltje verdienen in elke autosport tak,terwijl mannen hier niet welkom zijn om mee te doen. En als een man zich laat ombouwen tot vrouw...mag hij dan wel meedoen?
