Haas komt ontgoocheld uit Mexicaanse Grand Prix

Niet zo lang geleden leek het team van Haas nog de gedoodverfde favoriet te zijn voor de vierde positie bij de constructeurs, maar momenteel staat het er compleet anders voor. Renault heeft die vierde plek inmiddels zo goed als binnen, terwijl de coureurs van Haas in Mexico op de laatste twee plekken eindigden. 

"Het enige mooie aan dit weekend, was dat er een einde aan kwam", is teambaas Guenther Steiner cynisch. "Er is niets goeds dat we uit dit weekend kunnen halen. We waren gewoon te langzaam en kregen de banden niet aan het werk. Op naar Brazilië dan maar."

"Het ging op de ultrasofts niet zoals we hadden verwacht", zegt Romain Grosjean. "Op de supersofts konden we er het beste van maken, maar het hield niet over. Het was een zware dag."

Kevin Magnussen voegde daar ook nog wat aan toe. "Als we goed willen presteren, dan hebben we daarvoor de juiste banden nodig. Maar dat was met deze banden niet mogelijk. Het was zwaar, maar we moeten verder."

      Mooi om de verschillen te zien tussen de teams die hun banden snel oprookten en de teams die lange stints konden rijden op dezelfde banden.

    Ik krijg de indruk dat Haas niet doorontwikkeld , misschien dat als ze volgend jaar voor t eerst prijzengeld uitgekeerd krijgen dat ze budget overhebben om door te ontwikkelen gedurende het seizoen

      Ik heb het idee dat Dhr Gene Haas wel dacht even in de F1 het te gaan maken, nu dat toch moeilijker en vooral duurder blijkt te zijn zou ik niet gek staan te kijken dat als er volgend seizoen niet veel beter gepresteerd word dat Gene en de stekker snel uittrekt.
      In principe draait Haas enkel op geld van Gene Haas, sponsors zie ik niet veel op da wagens staan, als de prestaties dan ook weinig tot niets opleveren kan het zomaar over zijn.
      Dat Haas met dezelfde rijders doorgaat kan ook zijn omdat er geen geld is voor aantrekken andere betere coureurs.

      Hennie013... P5 in 3 seizoenen kom op zeg. Gene Haas is een realist en sportliefhebber. Haas maakt winst met het F1 project door +- 120 miljoen te gebruiken. Volgend jaar wordt dit budget uitgebreid met het geld van Rich Energy...

      M@ximumoverdrive je hebt gelijk hoor. De stekker is volgens mij na Singapore uit het 2018 project gehaald. Haas verwachte dat Austin en Mexico beter voor hun auto zou zijn dan voor Renault maar dit hebben ze mis. P5 is nogsteeds een prima resultaat met bijna 60% van het budget dat Renault heeft.

    en dan gaan we gewoon met deze coureurs nog een jaartje door. Als je ballen hebt had je een Amerikaans talent in die auto gezet met Ocon ernaast. met Grosjean en Magnussen ga je de oorlog niet winnen , als je hoort dat de monteurs helemaal klaar zijn met die twee dan klopt het niet dat de leiding de contracten verlengt.Grosjean en Magnussen hebben hun nut gehad , maar zijn te onstabiel. wat Haas nu doet is stilstaan, en in de F1 is stilstaan zelfmoord.

      Het probleem bij Haas zit hem niet in de coureurs, maar in het feit dat ze niets ontwikkelen. Haas F1 heeft maar iets van 60 of 70 man personeel in dienst. De aandrijflijn wordt geleased van Ferrari, het chassis wordt gebouwd bij Dallara aan de hand van de Ferrari tekeningen van vorig seizoen.

      Niet zo gek dus dat ze wegzakken gedurende het seizoen. Sterker nog: ik vind dat ze het naar omstandigheden uitstekend doen.
