Rik Breukers wint voor de tweede keer de 24-uur van Daytona

De Grasser Lamborghini Huracan van Mirko Bortolotti, Christian Engelhart, Rolf Ineichen en onze landgenoot Rik Breukers heeft voor het tweede jaar op rij de Rolex 24 uur van Daytona in de GTD-klasse (GT Daytona) gewonnen.

Onze landgenoot uit Ven-Zelderheide was al voor de tweede keer dit jaar eindwinnaar van een 24 uursrace. De 20-jarige Breukers won dit jaar ook de 24 uur van Dubai. Breukers reed op 18-jarige leeftijd al mee tijdens de 24 uur van Le Mans in 2017. Hij kwam toen uit in de LMP2-klasse voor het ARC Bratislava team. Het team eindigde destijds als 45e op 53 ronden achterstand van de winnaars Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley en Earl Bamber van Porsche.

Breukers, die in 2015 de Dunlop 24 uur van Silverstone won en in 2017 de Lamborghini Super Trofeo in het Midden-Oosten op zijn naam wist te schrijven won tot nu toe 24 van zijn 119 autoraces. Hiermee is de op 14 mei 1998 geboren Nederlander de meest succesvolle coureur in zijn leeftijdscategorie in de GT-wereld. Wij feliciteren Rik dan ook met zijn prachtige overwinning.

Zijn vader is Ivo breukers, zakenman en oprichter van oa de 24uursrace in Dubai. Ik denk dat Rik niet de publiciteit nodig had om zich bij sponseren te lokken om zo aan een stoeltje te komen.     erg knap maar in alle eerlijkheid, ik had nog nooit van hem gehoord! en ik kan toch best wel zeggen dat ik nagenoeg alle autosport volg!

    echt nog nooit van gehoord, tot vandaag dan, ik zal mijn best doen om er eens wat vaker op te letten! wel ontzettend knap!

      Klopt, ik wist wel dat hij al op jonge leeftijd aan de 24 uur van Le Mans had meegedaan en ben hem toen blijven volgen. Toen ik gisteren naar informatie zocht kwam ik er achter dat hij een paar dorpjes verderop woont. Super interessant natuurlijk. Die jongen heeft echt een belachelijk goede CV. Heel indrukwekkend!

      @tom MSC ik had zijn naam wel eens opgevangen maar dacht aan een zuidafrikaan of aan een Belg aangezien er geen informatie kwam en er nauwelijk ruchtbaarheid aan gegeven werd en ik ervan uitging dat het dan geen Hollander was, op zich vreemd dat hij nog nooit geintervieuwd is door welk Nederlands autosportprogramma dan ook! erg jammer aangezien zijn palmares best indrukwekkend is mede gezien zijn leeftijd!

Wel super leuk om zo boven te komen bloeien, nog z’n rijder die ik eerst niet kende en nu ook goede resultaten heeft is Larry te Voorde die in de Porsche supercup leuke dingen laat zien.

      ten Voorde ken ik dan weer wel,deze zat hij samen met Max Verstappen in het Talent-First-programma. was een grote beloftte en won zeer veel. helaas moest hij door financiele malheur even stoppen maar heeft zich goed herpakt. van hem gaan we zeker nog meer horen

      Had wel van hem gehoord. Komt doordat zijn Pa van lang geleden ken en vandaar enigzins op de hoogte was. Hij reed met enkele anderen (waaronder Gerrie Willems) niet onverdienstelijk in de endurance Racing en ze zijn van daaruit zelf races gaan organiseren (als ik het goed heb).

    Nog meer goed nieuws over een nog relatief onbekend Nederlands talent.

    Het Nederlandse racetalent Job van Uitert debuteert dit jaar in de 24 uur van Le Mans. Hij gaat rijden voor G-Drive Racing, een van de sterkste teams uit de recente historie van het World Endurance Championship en de European Le Mans Series.

    Van Uitert debuteerde in 2018 in de ELMS en maakte indruk door direct de titel op te eisen. Daarmee had hij de aandacht getrokken van diverse teams, waaronder G-Drive Racing. Na een pittige selectieprocedure werd de Nederlander uitgekozen om in 2019 voor het topteam aan de start te staan in de ELMS en de 24 uur van Le Mans.
