Sainz en Grosjean verschillen van mening betreffende het volgen van auto's

Rich Energy Haas-coureur Romain Grosjean is van mening dat de nieuwe aerodynamische voorschriften goed zijn om auto's gemakkelijker te volgen. De Fransman zegt echter dat de banden van Pirelli nog steeds te lijden hebben als ze in de buurt van de achterkant van een andere auto zijn, hierdoor raken de banden oververhit.

Nieuwe regels zijn goed voor het volgen van andere auto's

Grosjean volgde teamgenoot Kevin Magnussen in het begin van de wedstrijd en merkte de veranderingen op. "Ik zat achter Kevin", legde hij uit. "De nieuwe regels zijn geweldig voor het volgen van een andere auto, maar de banden zijn nog steeds zoals ze vorig jaar waren. Zodra je pusht ga je schuiven en verlies je grip. We kunnen dus nu makkelijker volgen, maar het inhalen is nog steeds erg ingewikkeld."

Sainz denkt dat de grootte van de DRS invloed heeft

Carlos Sainz is van mening dat het Drag Reduction System (DRS), sterker is geworden door de grotere achtervleugels. Volgens de Spanjaard zal het inhalen hierdoor makkelijker gaan.

"Ik denk dat er wel wat in te halen is", vertelde Sainz. "Ik denk dat het vooral te wijten is aan de DRS en niet aan de regels. Dat is mijn eerste indruk, want het is nog steeds lastig om dichter bij een voorligger te zijn."

"Ik was met Lance in gevecht. Ik kwam heel close in de eerste bocht en toen we naar bocht drie reden werd de auto zeer afhankelijk van de downforce. Misschien is het beter dan in 2018, maar echt veel verschil merk ik niet. Het inhalen blijft lastig"

Ross Brawn, Sportief Directeur van de Formule 1 zegt dat hij blij was met de inhaalstatistieken op Albert Park. Deze waren beter in vergelijking met de race twaalf maanden eerder.

Ligt misschien ook wel een beetje aan de wagen die je zelf hebt? iig haan we het de komende 2 races wel zien.

  Precies de wagens met de filosofie van de AR voorvleugel hebben in de basis minder downforce aan de voorkant dan de conventionele versies van Mercedes en RBR. Dus zal er in vuile lucht relatief meer verlies zijn ivm de oppervlakte van de vleugel. Dat RB downforce zoekt is heel erg bemoedigend en betekend dat de PU van Honda doet wat het heeft beloofd.

Als je beter kan volgen maar inhalen is even moeilijk, dan is het lood om oud ijzer.

  Eerst maar eens kijken hoe het op andere circuits is.
  Voorig seizoen na de eerste race was het dezelfde discusie.
  De rest van het seizoen was het niet heel slecht.

  Het is idd eerst nog ff afwachten, maar lood om oud ijzer is het zeker niet. Want als je een voorliggende auto goed kan volgen, kan een klein foutje van die coureur wel sneller worden afgestraft.

  Precies schwantz, als ze al kunnen volgen is het al winst.
  Als ze er korter op kunnen blijven zullen ze ook eerder een inhaalactie inzetten.

Denk dat het inderdaad makkelijker is om een auto te volgen als het gaat om de chassis, alleen dat het weer een nieuw probleem naar voren heeft gebracht m.b.t. het managen van de banden. Iets wat zonder het testen van de banden met twee 2019 auto's niet te voorzien was voor Pirelli.
