Naast Verstappen en Gasly ook Norris achteraan de grid in Italië

Lando Norris kan een goede uitgangspositie voor de Grand Prix van Italië op zijn buik schrijven. De McLaren-coureur moet achteraan de grid starten, omdat hij voor deze race een nieuwe motor in zijn bolide heeft laten monteren.

Norris krijgt van McLaren dit weekend de beschikking over een nieuwe verbrandingsmotor, turbo, MGU-H, MGU-K en Energy Store. Alleen de Control Electronics van de MCL34 is niet vervangen, maar de Brit moet desondanks toch achteraan de grid starten. Hij krijgt die straf, omdat hij voor alle gewisselde onderdelen boven het maximaal aantal onderdelen zit wat hij in een seizoen mag verbruiken.

Achteraan de grid krijgt Norris in ieder geval gezelschap van Max Verstappen en Pierre Gasly. De coureurs van respectievelijk Red Bull Racing en Scuderia Toro Rosso krijgen dit weekend een volledig nieuwe krachtbron van Honda. Omdat ze hierdoor met alle onderdelen boven het maximum aantal componenten in een seizoen komen, worden zij ook naar de laatste plaatsen op de grid verwezen op Monza.

Geen gridstraffen voor motorwissels Ferrari

De FIA bevestigde tevens dat Ferrari dit weekend met een nieuwe krachtbron aan de start staat. Charles Leclerc en Sebastian Vettel worden uitgerust met een nieuwe verbrandingsmotor, turbo en MGU-H, maar hiervoor worden ze niet bestraft: voor beide coureurs geldt dat dit de derde exemplaren zijn van deze onderdelen, precies het aantal dat een coureur mag gebruiken in een seizoen.

Norris kent sowieso nooit "gewone" weekenden. Ben benieuwd of hij zich in de punten kan knokken. Baal nog steeds van de laatste ronde op Spa, arme Lando.
