Daniil Kvyat over zijn toekomst: "Ik ben blij met waar ik zit en ga niet naar Alfa Romeo"

Daniil Kvyat, coureur van Toro Rosso, heeft geruchten over een mogelijke overstap naar het team van Alfa Romeo Sauber, naar het rijk der fabelen verwezen. Dr. Helmut Marko, adviseur van Red Bull Racing, vertelde onlangs dat de Toro Rosso-coureur volgend jaar in ieder geval niet zal promoveren naar het team van Red Bull Racing.

Daniil Kvyat naar Ferrari?

In Sochi gingen er geruchten dat Kvyat, die vorig jaar terugkeerde in het Red Bull-programma, nadat hij in 2017 nog de deur was gewezen, misschien zou worden opgepikt door het aan Ferrari gelinkte Alfa Romeo. De Rus werkte in 2018 al als ontwikkelingscoureur in de simulator voor Ferrari, dus gingen er stemmen op dat Kvyat na een redelijk jaar als rijder bij Toro Rosso wel eens het stoeltje van de tegenvallend presterende Antonio Giovinazzi zou kunnen overnemen.

De Rus vertelde in Sochi echter aan het Russische Sportbox: "Ik weet niets over de situatie bij Alfa Romeo. Ik focus me alleen op mijn team."

Daniil Kvyat gewoon bij Toro Rosso

La Gazzetta dello Sport, meldde deze week dan ook dat Kvyat ook in 2020 voor Toro Rosso uit zal komen. De Italiaanse krant citeert de drievoudig podiumklant, als volgt: "Ik heb veel verschillende uitspraken gehoord, maar ik ben blij dat ik ook in 2020 mijn plaats in de Formule 1 heb. Ik ben dol op Toro Rosso en ik blijf graag rijden voor dit team."

Logisch. Bij STR blijft hij een kans houden op een plekje bij een top team. Als hij naar Alfa zou verhuizen zou dit een langzaam einde van zijn carrier als F1 coureur inluiden.

Kvyat was toch al bevestigd als STR coureur (door Marko) voor 2020? Waar komen de speculatiekoekjes over een move naar Alfa dan vandaan?

Het zou zelfs een stap achteruit zijn. Toro Rosso doet het weer goed dit jaar en rijdt regelmatig in de punten. Je kan ook altijd de volgende race in Red Bull zitten. Helmut heeft elke ochtend om 7 uur spontaan een nieuwe ingeving. De gang bij Alfa lijkt er een beetje uit te zijn de laatste maanden, al heeft Kimi wel wat pech gehad.

Effe off-topic:
De weersvoorspellingen voor Suzuka zien er komend weekend bijzonder slecht uit. Kans dat op zondag een typhoon over het gebied passeert. Weer-apps geven op vrijdag, zaterdag en vooral zondag heel veel regen en toenemende wind aan. Kan nog interessant worden.

  Ik denk dat ze de boel dan plat gooien.... gezien het feit wat er een paar jaar geleden is gebeurd met vergelijkbare omstandigheden.... zo'n blamage wensen ze niet nog een keer.... de japanners niet en F! niet
