Renault onthult bolide voor 2020 op 12 februari

Renault heeft bekendgemaakt op welke datum het team het doek van haar bolide voor 2020 trekt. Dat gaat op 12 februari gebeuren.

Het in Enstone gevestigde team is daarmee het vierde team dat de datum voor de onthulling van de auto voor 2020 bekend heeft gemaakt. Ferrari doet dat een dag eerder op 11 februari, terwijl McLaren en Alpha Tauri dat op respectievelijk 13 en 14 februari doen. Hoewel Red Bull Racing nog geen officiële datum heeft gecommuniceerd, lijkt het Oostenrijkse team dezelfde dag te kiezen als Renault.

Op 12 februari presenteert Renault dus de bolide die het team weer vooraan in de middenmoot moet laten meestrijden. Het besturen van de bolide, die waarschijnlijk naar de naam RS20 gaat luisteren, is een klus voor Daniel Ricciardo en Esteban Ocon, nadat het team voor het vierde jaar op rij haar line-up heeft gewijzigd. Ocon is de vervanger van Nico Hülkenberg.

Renault heeft Ocon uit zijn lijden verlost bij Mercedes, waar hij in 2019 nog een jaar aan de zijlijn moest toekijken. In 2016 debuteerde de Fransman in de Formule 1 bij Manor, om in 2017 en 2018 bij Force India te racen. Hij tekende een tweejarig contract bij Renault, terwijl Ricciardo dit jaar juist het laatste jaar van zijn tweejarige deal ingaat. De ambitie is duidelijk: de vierde positie bij de constructeurs moet heroverd worden.
