Norris wil fans via social media inkijkje geven in bezigheden F1-coureurs

Lando Norris is een fanatieke gebruiker van social media. Niet alleen plaatst hij op Twitter en Instagram grappige berichten, ook wil hij via Instagram en Twitter een inkijkje in het leven van een Formule 1-coureur geven.

Norris maakte in 2019 zijn debuut in de Formule 1 en groeide in korte tijd uit tot een van de populairste coureurs op de grid. Het grootste deel van zijn fans zijn, net als de Brit zelf, betrekkelijk jong en dat kan niet los gezien worden van zijn aanwezigheid op social media. Op Instagram en Twitter heeft hij bij elkaar opgeteld ruim anderhalf miljoen volgers, terwijl hij ook actief is op YouTube en streamingplatform Twitch.

Voor Norris is het niet meer dan vanzelfsprekend dat hij actief is op social media. "Ik ben ermee opgegroeid en al sinds ik een klein kind ben, ben ik erop actief. Misschien was ik er al te vroeg mee bezig. Het is een deel van mijn leven. Ik geef de fans hiermee een blik achter de schermen en een beter beeld van waar een F1-coureur mee bezig is."

Dat is ook de intentie die Norris heeft met zijn accounts op social media, zo vertelde hij tijdens Autosport International. "Dat is precies wat ik wil doen. Ik wil de mensen iets laten zien dat ze bij andere coureurs niet zien. Ik wil graag laten zien wat ik graag doe, zodat mensen meer inzicht krijgen in wat ik doe. Ik hoop dat ze het leuk vinden."

Na een sterk debuutseizoen, waarin Norris ondanks een aantal pechgevallen op de elfde positie in het kampioenschap eindigde, zal hij ook in 2020 bij McLaren te bewonderen zijn. Wederom is Carlos Sainz zijn teamgenoot. In 2019 stuwde dat duo McLaren naar de vierde positie in het kampioenschap en het doel is om die positie op zijn minst vast te houden in het nieuwe seizoen.
