Haas F1 kondigt ook line-up voor eerste testweek in Barcelona aan

Haas F1 heeft de onthulling van de VF-20 aangegrepen om ook de line-up voor de eerste week van de wintertests bekend te maken. Romain Grosjean en Kevin Magnussen zullen allebei anderhalve dag in actie komen voor het Amerikaanse team.

Daar waar het de afgelopen jaren gebruikelijk was dat de teams voorafgaand aan het seizoen acht dagen testten tijdens de wintertest, is dat met ingang van 2020 veranderd. De almaar groeiende kalender van de Formule 1 heeft ertoe geleid dat van beide testweken één dag geschrapt wordt. In totaal krijgen de teams dus slechts zes testdagen voor de start van het seizoen.

Haas F1 was donderdag het eerste team dat beelden presenteerde van haar bolide voor het nieuwe seizoen, met als opvallendste verandering de nieuwe kleurstelling. Tegelijkertijd kondigde de renstal ook aan hoe de rollen verdeeld zijn tijdens de eerste testweek in Barcelona. Magnussen trapt af op woensdag, Grosjean rijdt op donderdag. De vrijdag wordt vooralsnog eerlijk verdeeld tussen de twee coureurs.

Steiner kijkt uit naar debuut VF-20

Na het moeizaam verlopen 2019 hoopt Haas F1 op een wederopstanding. Dat geldt ook voor teambaas Günther Steiner. De Italiaan kijkt altijd met plezier naar de ontwikkeling van een nieuwe bolide. "Zonder twijfel moet de VF-20 gaan leveren, wat met de vorige auto niet lukte. De stabiele reglementen zorgden ervoor dat we de auto beter leerden begrijpen en onszelf goed konden inspecteren, zodat we oplossingen konden vinden voor de nieuwe auto."

"Iedereen binnen het team werd gedwongen om naar zichzelf te kijken en te begrijpen wat ze beter kunnen doen. Ik kijk ernaar uit om de VF-20 te zien debuteren op het circuit. Zoals gebruikelijk wil je veel halen uit het testen, maar veel kilometers, betrouwbaarheid en snelheid zijn erg welkom in onze voorbereiding op de eerste race van het seizoen in Australië."
