Spoorboekje 12 februari: onthulling Red Bull RB16 en 'presentatie' Renault R.S.20

De eerste officiële presentatie van een 2020-bolide is achter de rug: Ferrari beet dinsdagavond het spits af met de onthulling van de SF1000. Vandaag gaat het circus verder met liefst twee presentaties: die van Red Bull Racing en Renault.

De verwachting is dat Red Bull Racing het spits gaat afbijten op de woensdag. Het team heeft officieel echter nog niets naar buiten gebracht over de tijd waarop de nieuwe bolide, die de naam RB16 zal dragen, voor het eerst aan de wereld getoond gaat worden. Wel maakte Helmut Marko al bekend dat de auto vandaag ook een shakedown gaat krijgen. Die vindt plaats op Silverstone. Vorig jaar was dat ook het geval: toen kwamen er rond 13.00 uur beelden naar buiten van de nieuwe bolide.

De afgelopen dagen is men bij Red Bull Racing al bezig geweest met de inleidende beschietingen voor de presentatie van de RB16. Maandag werd het nieuwe, licht gewijzigde helmontwerp van Alexander Albon onthuld en dinsdag volgde de nieuwe helm van teamgenoot Max Verstappen. Eerder op dinsdag toonde Red Bull Racing ook de eerste beelden van de nieuwe overalls.

Onduidelijkheid troef bij Renault

Wat wel vast staat, is dat Renault haar F1-seizoen 2020 's middags aftrapt in Parijs. Dat doet de Franse autofabrikant met een heus kick-off evenement in de flagship store Atelier Renault op de Champs-Élysées. Afgaande op de berichtgeving van Renault zelf wordt het een ietwat vreemde middag tijdens het evenement: zo kondigde het team aan de R.S.20 niet fysiek aanwezig is in Parijs.

Om 14.00 uur begint de seizoensopening van Renault, maar voor de fans is die niet te volgen: de Franse renstal biedt geen live stream aan. Er zal een reeks persconferenties plaatsvinden met onder andere teambaas Cyril Abiteboul en coureurs Esteban Ocon en Daniel Ricciardo. Het communicatie-team van Renault zal de hele middag verslag doen en vanaf 15.20 uur zullen er langzaam beelden verspreid gaan worden van de R.S.20. Daarbij wordt de auto mogelijk gehuld in een speciale testkleurstelling.

  Al iets kunnen vinden over hoe laat de presentatie van de RB16 is? Was de afgelopen jaren rond 13.00 dus wellicht dit jaar ook.

  Ja en als ze alleen maar beperkt iets laten zien dan hebben ze blijkbaar iets te verbergen. Als het iets technisch was geweest hadden ze net als de andere teams inderdaad een showauto zonder het betreffende deel kunnen laten zien, maar wel met de stickers van dit jaar.
  
  Dus persoonlijk verwacht ik een wijziging in het kleurenschema of de sponsoring bij Renault. Of het is weer een hype om niks ;)
