Formule 1-coureurs rijden toch Australische Grand Prix maar dan online

Ex Formule 1-coureur Jean-Eric Vergne, die tweemaal het Formule E-kampioenschap won, heeft een leuk alternatief bedacht voor de Grand Prix van Australië. Teams en coureurs waren met al hun materiaal al naar Melbourne afgereisd voor de Grand Prix. Even voor de start van de eerste vrije training werd besloten om de Grand Prix toch te annuleren.

Een paar uur later volgde er een hard statement van de FIA. De autosportbond legt samen met de Formule 1 alle races tot en met eind mei stil. Hiermee komt onder andere de Nederlandse Grand Prix te vervallen, die na 35 jaar eindelijk weer op de kalender stond. Nu zijn er genoeg alternatieven bedacht door de Formule 1, zoals racen zonder publiek en races achter en midden in het seizoen erbij plakken, maar Vergne kwam met het meest originele idee. Max Verstappen en Lando Norris zijn vaak in voor dit soort evenementen, dus mogelijk zullen zij met een aantal anderen deelnemen.

Sinds kort heeft de Formule 1 haar eigen E-sport kampioenschap. Hier doen van alle teams gamers aan mee, die het team dan vertegenwoordigen. Het is een soort Formule 1-kampioenschap, maar dan online. Ook hier wordt gewoon gekwalificeerd en getraind, maar dan op het spel F12019. Vergne besloot om samen met Veloc E-sports een event aan te maken. Echte Formule 1 en Formule E-coureurs zullen hieraan deelnemen. Ook is de Grand Prix van Australië gewoon op dezelfde dag, 15 maart. Het event is online en ook te volgen via de livestreams, zo vertelt Vergne op zijn Instagram.

  Ik lees dat Vergne al een event heeft aangemaakt dus dat klinkt als een voldongen feit. Dat élke F1 coureur mee zal doen waag ik inderdaad te betwijfelen. Zeker als ze horen dat Verstappen en Norris misschien mee doen.
  Ik snap de Telegraafkoppen opmerking dus ook niet.

  Daarnaast dit Virus is gewoon erg,als je er kenneis van hebt kan je het zelf maken.Moet er niet aan denken als terroristen het maken in de toekomst maar dan de ergere variant!!!

  Volgens hetzelfde artikel moet het eerst nog door andere wetenschappers geverifieerd waarna het nog maanden duurt dat het überhaupt op de markt kan komen.

Ik zou de starttijd wel aanpassen naar Europese tijd, want ik geloof niet dat Max & co zondagochtend om 6 uur hun nest uit gaan komen om een potje te gamen nu ze weer in Europa zijn.
