Horner: "Liberty houdt teams overeind om eigen bedrijf te redden"

Formule 1-eigenaar Liberty Media zal paraat staan als teams ten onder gaan aan de coronacrisis. Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner vertelde dat, ook is hij van mening dat de teams er wel een enorme klap van zullen krijgen.

De Formule 1, Liberty en de circuits proberen er van alles aan te doen om zo snel mogelijk weer het 2020-seizoen te kunnen herstarten. Voor sommige teams is het snel herstarten van het seizoen cruciaal, vooral voor Williams. Ook zijn er teams die liever hebben dat het seizoen helemaal stopt omdat het gewoon te gevaarlijk is, maar Red Bull-baas Horner zei dat dat 'een enorme klap' zou zijn.

Liberty Media, de eigenaar van de Formule 1, staat voor een lastige klus. “Op dat moment moet de eigenaar (Liberty, red.) beslissen", vertelde Horner

"Het is hun zaak - ze moeten beslissen hoe ze die teams in leven kunnen houden, omdat ze teams nodig hebben om te gaan racen. De hoge heren bij Liberty zouden er alles aan doen om ervoor te zorgen dat er tien teams op de grid staan en volgend jaar weer kunnen racen.”

Liberty helpt voor eigen belang

Liberty kan in grote problemen komen. De aandelen zijn na de overnamen steeds minder waard geworden. Als een team omvalt, zal dit nog verder dalen. Horner: "Om hun eigen bedrijf te beschermen, denk ik dat ze zouden helpen - wat betekent dat ze moeten betalen - om ervoor te zorgen dat die teams er zijn om volgend jaar aan het seizoen kunnen deelnemen."

Ik moet nog maar zien dat er volgend jaar wel toeschouwers bij mogen zijn. Hoe het was komt voorlopig echt niet terug, dus daar mogen ze wel alvast over nagaan denken.

    Lijkt mij ook niet meer dan logisch. Aandeelhouders maar een jaar geen fee. Risico van het vak.

      Ik moet nog maar zien dat er volgend jaar wel toeschouwers bij mogen zijn. Hoe het was komt voorlopig echt niet terug, dus daar mogen ze wel alvast over nagaan denken.

      Zal toch wel. Je ziet nu al weer veel meer landen open gaan alleen dan verplicht met mondkapjes. Het zal allemaal wat minder vol kunnen waardoor de prijzen omhoog gaan al vraag ik mij dan af hoe ze dat in Zandvoort willen gaan want daar is echt elke duinspriet verkocht. Ik zit ook te twijfelen om mijn geld van Zandvoort terug te vragen. Aan 1 kant wil ik er erg graag heen maar ik weet niet of het nog echt leuk wordt als er allemaal voorwaarde aan komen te hangen als het al ooit nog doorgaat.

      Publiek mag wel weer komen, maar die 1.5m dat verhaal zal je zeker volgend jaar houden, met mondkapjes naast elkaar bedoel je, dat zou ook kunnen. maar helaas zal er veel gaan veranderen, dat zie ik niet opeens terug gedraaid worden. Tegen de griep is ook een prik maar die helpt ook niet echt, dus is maar de vraag waar ze mee komen volgend jaar.

      Je ziet de landen die weinig testen en gewoon open hielden die krijgen nu de klappen, dus Nederland doet het denk nog niet zo slecht, ik neem aan dat het over een paar maanden wel beter is, maar na de zomer wat dan is de grote vraag, daar moet echt over nagedacht worden.

      Joeppp, zelf je geld terugvragen zou ik nog even mee wachten. Ik ken de voorwaarden niet uit mijn hoofd maar waarschijnlijk krijg je je geld terug op het moment dat het definitief niet door gaat. Daar is momenteel nog geen sprake van.

      1,5 meter is onzin, zeker in gesloten ruimtes met veel mensen of tribunes bijvoorbeeld. Het is allang aangetoond dat je tot zeker 7 meter kan verspreiden. Denk bijvoorbeeld ook aan zingen en roepen. In India was een superverspreider die met zijn preken enorm veel mensen besmet heeft. Natuurlijk verminderd 1,5 meter de kans. Maar die vermindering kan ook met een masker.

    De huidige situatie noopt ons naar toch een andere kijk of bepaalde “economische” activiteiten nog wel essentieel zijn.
    Daar hoort ook een F1 bij in de vorm als het altijd was.
    Terug naar het “oude” en daarop je reddingsplan baseren kan wel eens fataal zijn.
    Er wordt naar mijn gevoel nog te veel en te snel hiervoor naar de knip gegrepen.
    “Als we maar eerst weer aan de praat zijn, kijken dan wel weer hoe het echt moet” is geen duurzame economische oplossing.

    Maatregelen zijn bedoeld om de druk op de IC te verminderen, minder verspreiding en beschermen van ouderen. Zorgwekkend en beangstigend die normalisering van de maatregelen. Mondkapjes bij evenementen, stoplicht systeem als je naar het stand wilt, vooraf reserveren als je de bus wilt nemen...

      Precies, het mag helemaal niet het "nieuwe" normaal worden. Het was enkel voor die doeleinden het leven ingeroepen en zodra het in de zorg weer normaler wordt, moet het gewone leven weer terugkeren.

      @Vade, het "gewone" leven was mede de oorzaak van deze pandemie.
      We zijn op de manier van onze doen en laten gewezen en is dringend nodig het anders te doen.
      De 1.5 meter is geen oplossing, maar dierenmarkten als in China, het steeds verder verdringen van de natuur en de globalisering is te ver gegaan.
      Ik pretendeer niet de oplossing te hebben, maar als pré corona kan het niet verder.

    Liberty Media heeft op een aantal fronten met flink wat geld geschoven.
    Het gaat om verschillende transacties tussen de FWON, de holding waar de Formule 1 onder valt, en SiriusXM, een zijtak van het bedrijf. ............. De deal gaat gepaard met een aanzienlijk bedrag waardoor de F1 Group de beschikking krijgt over zo'n 1,4 miljard dollar."

    Natuurlijk wille ze de zaak overeind gaan houden maar of dat ze ook echt gaat lukken waag ik te betwijfelen.
    De F1 zit reeds in een diepe crisis en dit is nog maar het begin.
    Het was allemaal ver over de top en als het dan mis gaat gaat het ook goed mis.
    Wanneer de F1 nu geen grote stappen gaat maken om de sport te gaan reguleren zullen ze zeker de strijd gaan verliezen

      Welke strijd? Hoor al 15 jaar dat F1 het moeilijk heeft, maar zolang er mensen zijn als Lawrence Stroll valt het allemaal wel mee. Teams komen en gaan (behalve Ferrari) ,is altijd al geweest.
