Helmut Marko: "Alle teams zouden coronacrisis nu moeten overleven"

Helmut Marko denkt dat alle huidige Formule 1-teams de coronacrisis zullen overleven. Het is een ongekend tumultueuze periode geweest voor de sport en vele andere, aangezien de wereld tot stilstand kwam voor een wereldwijde pandemie.

McLaren heeft het alleen overleefd dankzij een banklening van 185 miljoen dollar, de toekomst van Haas is onzeker, Williams is te koop en zelfs de strategie van kampioenen Mercedes kan veranderen.

Red Bull zal Williams niet kopen

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko betwijfelt of teams volledig zullen verdwijnen. "Er zullen compromissen worden gesloten. Ik zie het enige acute gevaar bij Williams, maar met een verkoop van aandelen zal dat ook worden opgelost", zei Marko tegen APA, die ook aangaf dat Red Bull zeker niet de koper zal zijn van het team uit Grove.

Ook de toekomst van Renault was in gevaar maar de autofabrikant heeft onlangs groen licht gegeven voor de voortzetting van het F1-project, en teambaas Cyril Abiteboul heeft nu tegen L'Equipe gezegd: "Ons team is niet te koop."
