Haas teleurgesteld met kwalificatieposities na goede vrijdag

Het team van Haas kende gisteren een goede vrijdag. Zowel tijdens de eerste en de tweede vrije training was het team van Haas in de top 10 te vinden en zette zowel Magnussen als Grosjean zeer snelle tijden neer. Grosjean zei achteraf dat hij was verrast met de snelheid en niet wist daar die zo ineens vandaan kwam.

De derde vrije training eerder vandaag ging alweer als vanouds en ook tijdens de kwalificatie moest het team met beide coureurs toch weer afvallen in Q1 aangezien ze Q2 niet haalden.

Banden waren koud

Dit zorgde voor grote teleurstelling bij het Amerikaanse team. Kevin Magnussen: "Ik zat er heel dichtbij, het was erg close allemaal. Ik had ook last van allemaal verkeer en daardoor was het erg hectisch met veel coureurs die langzaam reden op weg naar hun snelle ronde."

"De laatste paar bochten reed ik stapvoets, waardoor de banden enorm af waren gekoeld toen ik aan mijn rondje moest beginnen. Dat is echt teleurstellend en ik zie dit als een kans die we gemist hebben. Het hele weekend voelde de wagen goed aan, behalve tijdens de kwalificatie."

Racesnelheid in orde

Ook teambaas Gunther Steiner baalt van de resultaten: "Het is erg teleurstellend. We hadden meer van deze kwalificatie verwacht maar we lijken al onze snelheid verloren te zijn. We moeten hier goed naar kijken waarom we dit kwijt zijn geraakt en vooral waardoor. Het enige positieve waar het team zich aan vast moet houden is onze snelheid van de racesimulatie."

Bij Haas hebben ze al jaren geen flauw idee wat ze aan hun auto's moeten doen om ze te verbeteren. Ben blij dat ze er zijn als veldvulling, maar voor de rest is het echt een team van niks.

  Hun concept is uitgewerkt. Alles gekocht wat ze konden kopen bij Ferrari... alles laten bouwen wat Dallara kon bouwen... Eigen personeel samengesteld om de auto's af te stellen en "kleine onderdelen" te bouwen... Dat personeel weet niet wat Dallara of Ferrari gedaan heeft, dus weet niet of daar iets mis ging. Haas staat altijd 2-0 achter qua data op andere teams.
