Renault optimistisch na 'solide' voorbereiding op Grand Prix van Toscane

Het team van Renault had vrijdag een 'solide' voorbereiding op het circuit waarvan ze niet zeker wisten of het even goed bij hun auto zou passen als de vorige twee hogesnelheidscircuits. Daniel Ricciardo was in de eerste training tiende terwijl Esteban Ocon zesde werd. Tijdens de middagtraining op vrijdag kwamen zij tot de vijfde en de zesde tijd. Ze willen dan ook allebei kwalificeren in de top tien.

Fantastisch

Ricciardo genoot op de voor hem nieuwe racebaan. "Het is zo goed om in Mugello te rijden. In één ronde is het leuk, maar ook op de lange runs, die normaal een stuk langzamer zijn, hoef je je niet in te houden omdat het allemaal op hoge snelheid gaat. Bocht 8 en 9 zijn bijna vol gas met veel brandstofverbruik, dus het is snel en het houdt je scherp. Ik had het gevoel dat we het vandaag vrij goed hebben opgepikt. Er waren een paar dingen die 's ochtends verbeterd konden worden, maar dat lukte pas ver in de middagsessie. Het lijkt erop dat beide auto's er goed voor staan. De tijden zien er goed uit en als we onszelf in dezelfde posities plaatsen tijdens de kwalificatie, dan zijn we heel blij. "

Zijn teamgenoot Esteban Ocon had ook een goede dag, met twee keer een zesde tijd op vrijdag.

“Het was een behoorlijke dag voor het team. Het is nieuw voor iedereen hier, en het is hier ook mijn eerste keer. Het is een fantastisch gevoel om in Mugello te rijden en het stelde niet teleur! Toen we gisteren over de baan liepen, dacht ik al dat het geweldig zou zijn om hier te rijden.

Een van de beste vrijdagen van het jaar

Hij vervolgt: "Het is een grote uitdaging voor ons, heel fysiek ook en het zeker ook bijzonder zwaar zijn voor de banden. We hebben genoeg prestaties te ontgrendelen nog voor morgen. Voor mij persoonlijk is het tot nu toe waarschijnlijk een van de beste vrijdagen van het jaar."

  Denk dat Renault RP/AM nog wel voorbij zullen gaan.... RP staat een beetje stil, maar of Renault ook McLaren nog aan kan vallen betwijfel ik.... Maar zeker het middenveld is wel interessant :)

  Dacht het niet....de RP heeft m.i. nog wel wat onontdekt potentieel , alleen de motivatie van Perez zal er wel niet op vooruit gegaan zijn.
