Helmut Marko: "Onze coureurs zijn ter nauwernood aan corona ontlopen"

Het coronavirus is nog steeds aanwezig in de Formule 1-paddock, terwijl de F1 de afgelopen week de meeste besmettingen kende sinds de start van het F1-seizoen. Onder de coureurs was het Sergio Perez die als eerste en tot nu toe als enige het coronavirus op heeft gelopen en hierdoor twee races moest missen.

Toch is het coronavirus altijd in de buurt, zo zegt Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko. De Oostenrijker kwam tijdens de coronacrisis op een bijzondere manier in het nieuws. Marko had als idee om alle Red Bull-coureurs, waaronder Max Verstappen, het virus op te laten lopen zodat ze er vanaf waren. Ook vermoedde Marko zelf al besmet te zijn geweest met corona.

Volgens Helmut Marko zijn inmiddels twee coureurs heel dicht in de buurt geweest van het coronavirus, zo stelt hij in gesprek met Oostenrijkse media: "We hebben een coureur gehad en zijn vriendin was besmet met corona maar hijzelf niet. Een andere coureur van ons was op een feest waarbij achteraf drie mensen besmet bleken. Toen hij zich liet testen bleek ook hij negatief."

Zo lijkt het erop dat die twee coureurs ermee weg zijn gekomen, aangezien van Red Bull Racing en AlphaTauri niemand een race heeft moeten missen.

      Het gaat hier om de vriendin van Max. Er is al eerder gemeld dat Max Verstappen in zijn directe omgeving mensen heeft gehad die besmet waren.

    Wat een bijzondere draai weer van deze man die in maart nog opperde alle Red Bull coureurs in een coronakamp te stoppen om immuniteit op te bouwen.

      Dat heeft 'ie toen ook toegelicht. Hij wilde zijn coureurs evt vóór het seizoen laten uitzieken, zodat ze tijdens het seizoen niet zouden uitvallen, zoals Perez nu.
      Zeker als het meer dan 1 coureur is , dan heeft RBR niet een hele rij vervangers..

    Er zijn heel veel coureurs onder de Red Bull vlag. Denk dat het hier zelfs niet eens over F1 coureurs gaat, is dus wel een sensatie titel weer

    Kan er alstublief iets gedaan worden aan de voortdurende vertraging op de lijn? Mijn reacties worden soms pas na meer dan een uur geplaatst en in een enkel geval komen ze zelfs helemaal miet door. Dank u!
