Hele race problemen voor Norris: "Ik moest allerlei knoppen indrukken"

Lando Norris kwalificeerde zich gisteren op de achtste plaats en streed vandaag mee om een podiumplaats. De jonge Brit had echter grote problemen met zijn McLaren waardoor hij allerlei instructies kreeg om de wagen op de baan te houden, tot grote frustratie van hemzelf.

Het werd een klaagzang, al probeerde zijn engineer hem nog moed in te praten en te motiveren. Het werkte echter niet voor Norris, waarna hij zijn MCL35 aan de kant moest zetten toen hij op een goede kansrijke positie reed in de punten.

Tegenover Sky Sports zei Norris: "We bleven continu vechten toen de problemen rond de 20e ronde begonnen. We vonden een aantal manieren om het onder controle te houden maar het was erg moeilijk. Ik moest allerlei knoppen indrukken en dat moest elke ronde, en vervolgens na elke bocht. Dat maakte het erg lastig, kostte veel aandacht maar we reden op dat moment nog in de punten, dus we hadden nog steeds kans om in de top 10 te eindigen. Uiteindelijk ging het niet meer en viel ik uit de race."

"We hebben vandaag alles geprobeerd wat we konden en moeten nu de problemen oplossen. Dat is niet ideaal maar we zullen moeten zien hoe dat loopt. Het is geen fijne positie om dit mee te maken, het is denk ik de derde keer nu dit seizoen."

Lando Norris staat in het kampioenschap op de zesde plaats met 65 punten, 3 punten achter Sergio Perez die er vandaag 12 scoorde en achter hem Alex Albon met 64 punten.

  Renault heeft stiekum zijn motor gesaboteerd, opdat hij Ricciardo niet in de weg zou rijden ;-)

Jammer Lando, p4 had er dik ingezeten.
Zijn pace was veel beter dan die van Sainz.
Zonder de door hem zelf veroorzaakte SC weet ik niet of Ricciardo de race op zijn banden uit had kunnen rijden.
Zowel, dan had Ricciardo in ieder geval veel rondetijd verloren op zijn oude versleten banden, waardoor Lando hem aan had kunnen vallen.

Eigenlijk weer het zoveelste voorbeeld dat coureurs allee. Met rijden bezig moeten zijn ipv computers bedienen.
Auto zijn te complex en zo moet een coureur niet hoeven rond te rijden.

  Dit is inderdaad grote onzin. Oke vroeger plofte er wat meer motoren en nu hebben ze error code 505 ofzo, maar met een plof was het tenminste klaar. Nu eerst een cursus coderen volgen om vervolgens alsnog klaar te zijn 20 ronden later. Lando reed goed en had zonder problemen prima mee kunnen doen voor dat laatste plekje, maar wat als dit wat als dat, dan was Latifi al 5 races voor het einde kampioen geweest.

Bad day at the office. Lando valt niets te verwijten. Wel toepasselijk dat de race van McLaren in het teken stond van de verbetering van de mental health en hun coureur helemaal gek wordt van de kuren van zijn auto en het gemekker van zijn engineer!
