Helmut Marko over mogelijke komst Tsunoda: "Hij moet alleen nog zijn Super Licentie behalen"

Het lijk erop dat Daniil Kvyat plaats moet gaan maken voor een nieuw talent. De coureur van AlphaTauri leek al geen toekomst meer te hebben bij het team, maar nu lijkt het helemaal gedaan met de toekomst van de 26-jarige coureur.

Helmut Marko, de adviseur van Red Bull, wil niets kwijt over de keuzes van coureurs voor volgend seizoen, maar hij ging wel in op de opties voor 2021 tegenover Sky Germany. Hij kreeg de vraag welke coureurs uit het opleidingsprogramma van Red Bull kans maken op een stoeltje voor 2021 bij AlphaTauri: "Op dit moment hebben we maar één coureur die kandidaat is voor een F1-stoel, dat is Yuki Tsunoda. Hij staat gepland voor AlphaTauri, hij hoeft alleen maar de nodige punten te scoren voor de Super Licentie."

De Japanner krijgt begin november zijn eerste meters in de F1 door een test op het circuit van Imola, daarna krijgt hij de kans om tijdens de Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi enkele dagen te testen.

Red Bull heeft verder geen grote talenten lopen in de Formule 2. In de Formule drie zijn wel coureurs actief namens de renstal. Liam Lawsom en Jüri Vips zijn twee aankomende talenten van Red Bull. Lawson doet er naast de Formule 3, namelijk de Toyota Racing Series. Hij komt daar uit in de M2-competition. Jüri Vips rijdt momenteel in Japan de Super Formula en deed dit seizoen mee als invaller van Sean Gelael bij DAMS. Marko vindt de jongens nog te jong en maakt zich geen zorgen. De jongens hoeven geen Formule 1-plek te verwachten, zo bevestigt Marko. "Daar zijn ze nog zeker een jaar vanaf."

Wie er volgend seizoen als teamgenoot naast Max Verstappen komt te zitten in de Red Bull Racing-bolide, is nog niet duidelijk. Alexander Albon maakt de beste kans, maar ook coureurs als Nico Hulkenberg zijn al genoemd.

  Van Kvyat is het begrijpelijk. Die presteert zelfs bij AT wisselvallig.
  Maar als ze Albon daar volgend jaar niet eens meer een plek geven dat zou wel bot zijn.
  Die is echt niet slechter dan Gasly.

  @RJH hangt ervan af. Vind je dat die door moeten stromen naar RBR. En wat als je ervan overtuigd bent dat die potentie er niet meer inzit, wat maakt het dan uit of je Gasly of Albon naar huis stuurt. In mij optiek maakt het niet uit wie van de twee volgend jaar rijdt voor AT. Belangrijkste lijkt me om de toekomst voor de middellange termijn te garanderen; dat is Max binnen boort houden en aanhaken met twee rijders in de kop van het veld. En dat gaat je met Albon en Gasly niet lukken. Dus moet ome Marko iets anders uit de hoge hoed toveren en ben erg benieuwd hoe die dat gaat aanpakken.

  Rjhvandaag@ 3 rijders zijn al bekend... Tsunoda is lijkt het hier vermeld zo goed als bekend... Misschien is dat gerucht van Gasly naar Renault toch niet zo gek dan... als Tsunoda de onbekende is... heeft perez of hulk geen kans.

  Gasly, wiens contract bij AlphaTauri eind dit jaar afloopt, wie zegt dat zijn contract verlengt wordt, dan is het gewoon exit.

  Ik ben niet zo'n fan van Gasly dus van mij mag het. Beetje nieuw bloed zal goed doen.
  Maar Albon verdient een kans als Gasly om te bewijzen dat het niet aan hem lag, maar aan de hoge druk bij RBR, dat 'ie onder z'n kunnen ging.
