Daniil Kvyat is niet bezorgd over toekomst in de Formule 1

Daniil Kvyat houdt zich nog stil over een mogelijk vertrek of verblijf bij Alpha Tauri in 2021. De coureur die in 2019 op Hockenheim op het podium wist te finishen, heeft dit seizoen nog weinig behaald.

AlphaTauri heeft nog maar één stoeltje over, want ze hebben Pierre Gasly al bevestigd voor het 2021-seizoen. Wie er naast de Fransman komt te zitten is nog onduidelijk. Yuki Tsunoda heeft een grote kans op het stoeltje, maar ook voor Kvyat is er nog geen deur gesloten. De Rus staat wel bijna 50 punten achter in het kampioenschap op zijn teamgenoot.

De coureur van AlphaTauri geeft nog niets vrij over een mogelijk vertrek of verblijf. "Kijk, eerlijk gezegd ben ik helemaal niet zo bezorgd", zei hij tegen MotorsportWeek. "Als ik volgend jaar in de Formule 1 ga rijden, is dat goed. Zo niet, dan is dat zo."

Hij attendeert erop dat hij niets meer kan doen dan zijn best. "Ik doe gewoon mijn best in deze vijf resterende races. En dan, wat er ook gebeurt, dan zal ik mijn beslissingen nemen op basis van wat het gaat worden aan het eind van het jaar."

Gekke tijden

De coureur reed eens voor Red Bull maar werd daarna gedegradeerd door de renstal naar Toro Rosso, omdat zijn prestaties niet goed genoeg waren. De Formule 1 is een achtbaan voor Kvyat, maar hij blijft zijn kansen grijpen. "Alles is nog open voor volgend seizoen. Het zijn gekke omstandigheden, weet je, alles kan gebeuren. Je moet tot het einde blijven vechten en je kansen grijpen."

Zou mij verbazen als we Kvyat nog terug zien, Tsunoda of mss Albon lijken me de meeste kans te maken op dit zitje, outsider is mss wel Russel.

  Kvyat is exit bij Alpha Tauri. Ik vermoed dat hij terug gaat naar Ferrari als test- en ontwikkeling coureur. Misschien zelfs als reserve
