Jos Verstappen: "Start van 2021 belangrijker dan hoe we 2020 hebben afgesloten"

Jos Verstappen zegt dat hij niet weet wie de teamgenoot van zijn zoon Max zal zijn bij Red Bull in 2021. Er zijn al weken speculaties over de vervanging van Albon, omdat het onwaarschijnlijk is dat hij zijn plaats volgend seizoen mag behouden. De laatste dagen lijken de kansen van Sergio Perez echt toe te nemen.

Bij Peptalk zei Jos Verstappen niet te weten wie het wordt: "Nee, ik weet het echt niet. Ik heb nog niets gehoord en ik zou het weten."

Het Verstappen-kamp heeft duidelijk gemaakt dat hun voorkeur bij Hulkenberg ligt - maar de laatste berichten suggereren dat Sakhir GP-winnaar Sergio Perez de favoriet is. Jos Verstappen is niet helemaal zeker over Perez: "Laten we afwachten waar hij staat ten opzichte van Max en Albon. Ik weet niet hoe goed Perez is."

Start 2021

Wat Verstappen senior wel weet, is dat de overwinning van Max vanaf pole in Abu Dhabi een goed teken was voor 2021. "De start van volgend seizoen is belangrijker dan het einde van dit seizoen. Maar als we begin volgend jaar zo kunnen beginnen, dan hebben we een kans."

Teambaas Christian Horner vertelde dat de overwinning van de 23-jarige Verstappen in de finale van 2020 Red Bull veel energie geeft voor 2021.

"Natuurlijk denk ik dat we ze kunnen verslaan", zei hij. "Mercedes heeft een geweldig team en ze hebben waarschijnlijk hun beste auto ooit gemaakt, maar iedereen is te verslaan."

      Pure pr- praat natuurlijk. Als hij domme dingen gaat zeggen krijgt Max er ook last van. En dat hij weet hij. Maar al te goed.

      @Bill, dat gaat over hoe goed Perez in de RB wagen is, die was heel slecht te managen dit jaar.
      Perez is trouwens een slechte qualifyer en dat is nu juist iets dat voor RBR heel belangrijk is, zover mogelijk vooraan starten.
      Ocon was beter destijds dan Perez.
      Ricciardo was beter dan Ocon.
      Ricciardo was nagenoeg gelijk aan Max in de kwalificatie.
      De vraag is dus hoe ver staat hij dan in de kwalificatie achter Max.
      Net zo ver als Albon? Zou zomaar kunnen.

    Jos is aan het jokke brokken, als er 1 iemand is die dit snel weet, is het Jos. Het Verstappen kamp heeft druk gezet, het hele financiële gedoe met Perez en zijn sponsoren zal tijd kosten.

      Inderdaad en straks met de tests zullen ze ook veel sneller zijn. vervolgens zal er een Mercedes staan waar je u tegen zegt.

      laten we het niet hopen. Ik hoop dat fer zich kan mengen in een episch gevecht tussen 4 topteams in 2021. Want McLaren zien ik met de mer motor en ric hoge ogen gooien.

      Mclaren gaat nooit kans maken op een paar dagsuccessen na als Het hoofdteam van Mercedes mee doet. Dan moet je denk ik eerder denken aan een episch gevecht tussen Mclaren/Ferrari/Perez om plaats 3. Max zal wel weer in niemandsland rijden.
