Vader en zoon Verstappen samen in Le Mans? "Nog geen plannen"

Een gezamenlijk optreden van Jos en Max Verstappen in de 24 uur van Le Mans behoort nog altijd tot de mogelijkheden. Red Bull Racing-coureur Max Verstappen zou het geweldig vinden om nog eens met zijn vader Jos in actie te komen. In het eindejaarsinterview met Ziggo Sport-verslaggevers Olav Mol en Jack Plooij gaf de 23-jarige Nederlander aan dat buiten de Formule 1 zijn voorkeur uitgaat naar de 24 uur van Le Mans.

Een ideaal evenement om samen met Jos Verstappen te ondernemen. Vader Jos ziet dat ook wel zitten, zo liet hij aan Motorsport-Total.com laten weten. "Ik moet dan wel in de buurt van Max komen wat pure snelheid betreft. Nee, dat is een grapje natuurlijk", benadrukt Jos Verstappen. "Ik hou van racen en we zullen wel zien wat er van komt. We hebben nog geen concrete plannen gesmeed om aan de 24 uur van Le Mans mee te doen."

Voor een rol als veldvulling past Jos Verstappen in elk geval. Meedoen om de winst is een voorwaarde voor deelname aan het evenement, zo stelt hij. "Ik wil niet alleen maar meedoen. Als ik ergens aan begin, dan wil ik ook winnen. Anders laat ik het gaan."

Het is voor de 48-jarige Jos Verstappen lang geleden dat hij meegedaan heeft aan een officiële race. Na zijn Formule 1-loopbaan stond vrijwel alles in het teken van het klaarstomen van zoon Max voor het hoogste niveau. Het is dan ook niet vanzelfsprekend dat Jos Verstappen zo weer op snelheid is. "Ik beleef nog altijd veel lol aan het rijden met een racewagen. Ik zoek graag de limiet op, ook al is dat op mijn leeftijd niet meer zo eenvoudig. Je moet goed in vorm zijn en dat is wel een uitdaging", geeft Jos Verstappen eerlijk toe.

Ja, maar als je na het voeden van zijn pasgeboren 5e iedere keer ff de koelkast in duikt om 'n stukkie kaas of worst te pakken?
Dat is natuurlijk 'n aanname van mij hé.

  @Tonrossi; reken er maar gerust op dat als wat in gang wordt gezet LMP1/2 Jos topfit aan de start staat. En niet als gentleman driver. Die levert echt wel.

De vormen zijn wel degelijk goed, past precies bij iemand die bijna 150 kilo weegt.

  De kilo's vliegen er straks wel af, nu hij weer elke nacht twee keer het bed uit moet om zijn pasgeboren 5e kind de fles te geven. :-))

Ik denk overigens dat Dietrich niet blij met deze foto zal zijn. Heeft Max dorst, neemt ie geen Red Bull.... ;-)

  ik denk dat Dietrich wat dat betreft niets te klagen heeft over Verstappen. Ik zie Max regelmatig op tv een red bull naar binnen tikken, dat heb ik enig ander coureur van RBR of STR zelfs (al dan niet terecht) nog NOOIT zien doen.
