Ocon over 'lastige tegenstander' Alonso: "Hij zal er enorm klaar voor zijn"

Esteban Ocon zal beginnen aan zijn vierde volledige Formule 1-seizoen met het Alpine F1 team. Waar hij vorig jaar teamgenoot was met Daniel Ricciardo, zal hij voor het 2021-seizoen naast tweevoudig wereldkampioen Fernando Alonso rijden. Ocon heeft geen twijfel dat Alonso meer dan klaar is voor zijn rentree, ongeacht het feit dat hij laatst nog betrokken was bij een ernstig verkeersongeluk.

Alonso kon door dat verkeersongeluk - waar hij zijn kaak brak en meerdere tanden verloor - niet meedoen aan de film-dag voor de A521. Hierdoor loopt hij waardevolle uren in de nieuwe Formule 1-wagen mis, terwijl Ocon deze uren wel kan doorbrengen in de A521.

Volgens Ocon maakt dit, echter, geen verschil. "Met al zijn ervaring en met alles wat hij in zijn leven gedaan heeft, denk ik dat hij vanaf de eerste race meteen snel is", zo voorspelt Ocon. "Ik weet zeker dat hij een lastige tegenstander wordt."

"Fernando is tweevoudig wereldkampioen. Het wordt voor het eerst dat ik naast een wereldkampioen rijd - daar kijk ik erg naar uit. Ik verwacht dat Alonso er meer dan klaar voor is."

"Fernando en ik hebben ook wanneer we samen hebben geracet in 2017 en 2018 veel respect voor elkaar gehad - ik heb überhaupt respect voor alles wat hij in motorsport heeft gedaan. Het racen tussen ons was altijd erg close, maar altijd eerlijk. Daar heb ik veel plezier aan beleefd", zo vertelt Ocon verder. "Dusver is het een goede samenwerking geweest tussen ons binnen het team, en ik verwacht dat dat het zelfde zal blijven op de lange termijn", zo concludeert Ocon.

  @snork ach hij zal misschien niet meer de top zijn zoals hij was, maar hij zal nog steeds de klasse hebben... en Ocon zal hoe dan ook nooit of tenimmer Alonso's niveau halen.

  Zoveel tijd besteedde hij niet aan mental games Snork. Probeer me wat voor de geest te halen, maar de enige bij wie hij dat weleens deed, vooral door m juist niet te noemen, was Vettel.

Ocon is nu al bang. zelfvertrouwen biedt toekomst, en dat tegen een coureur die al 2 jaar niet geracet heeft.

  Als die het Alonso niet moeilijk kan maken dan kan hij net als Vandoorne gewoon vertrekken. Ik zou het persoonlijk gewoon een aanfluiting vinden als Alonso Ocon t snot voor de ogen rijdt als dat Riccardo deed.

Toch leuk, doet me denken aan LeClerc vs Vettel. Groot respect, maar wel Vettel de vernieling in rijden. Hetzelfde gaat met Alonso gebeuren.

  Kweeniet of Ocon daar de klasse wel voor heeft. Ook als Alonso over z’n top is, zal hij een taaie tegenstander zijn.

  Daar zou ik niet zo zeker van zijn. Alonso reed al z’n ervaren endurance teammaatjes op een hoop qua snelheid en consistentie daarvan. Dus met name over langere periodes veruit de snelste Toyota en Cadillac rijder. Die heeft nog niet veel aan scherpte ingeleverd of die smakker met z’n fiets moet m hersencapaciteit hebben gekost.

Alonso 2-oudig kampioen 2005 en 2006 Dus 15 jaar geleden,
Alonso is 2 jaar uit de F1 geweest. Die moet echt weer gaan wennen.
Dus als Ocon niet voor Alonso uitkomen, of gelijkwaardig is, dan zegt dat ook iets over Ocon. --> afschijven dus.
