Norris niet verzekerd van het feit dat hij dit weekend Q3 zal halen

Waar Lando Norris vorig raceweekend zijn McLaren bijna op de eerste startrij zette, is de jonge Brit voor de Grand Prix van Portugal niet eens geheel zeker over het feit dat hij zijn wagen in Q3 kan rijden. Norris finishte achtste na de eerste vrije training en twaalfde na de tweede vrije training.

Afgaande op de balansproblemen die Norris kende op de eerste dag van het raceweekend, is hij van mening dat zijn team "serieuze stappen" moet zetten mochten zij kans willen maken op een plek in de top 10. "Er waren veel mensen die fouten maakten vandaag", zo vertelt Norris. "Ik ook, het is erg lastig om hier alles aan elkaar te knopen."

"Je hebt hier niet één ronde waarin je banden goed zijn - je kunt er wel twee of drie ronden mee doen. Dat maakt het erg lastig", zo vertelt Norris verder. "Ook qua balans is het niet zo goed als voorgaande twee raceweekenden. We hebben dus echt wat werk te verrichten als we in de top tien willen starten zondag. Op dit moment zijn we daar nog niet van verzekerd."

"Het is dus iets lastiger dan we gedacht hadden. Gelukkig hebben we nog flink wat tijd om de nodige veranderingen te kunnen maken ter voorbereiding voor de kwalificatie", zo vertelt Norris verder.

Norris is ook van mening dat McLaren het lastiger heeft door het feit dat Alpine serieuze stappen voorwaarts heeft gezet. Ferando Alonso en Esteban Ocon sloten de tweede training af als vijfde en zesde. "Normaal gesproken hadden we een redelijk groot gat naar Alpine, maar het ziet er naar uit alsof zij serieuze stappen hebben gezet. Dat maakt de race - en in Q3 komen - een stuk moeilijker. Het zijn twee extra wagens die we moeten racen. Dat maakt het wel leuker, maar tegelijkertijd ook lastiger", zo concludeert Norris.

Geweldig mooi dat het eruit ziet dat zowel Ferrari als Renault ook stappen zetten en langzaam ook aansluiten voor podium plaatsen!
Ik persoonlijk hoop dat McL het 3e team blijft, omdat dat team in mijn hart zit maar de man in mij vind het geweldig dat we weer ouderwets close racing kunnen gaan zien

  Was het niet zo dat Norris de vorige race ook een beetje achteraan hobbelde tijdens VT2? Plots stond hij er toen wel.

Alpine gaar ging hier vorig jaar ook goed. Misschien wel een race dat het effe wat beter gaat en deze baan hen beter ligt.
