Fernando Alonso pleit voor een speciale band voor Monaco

De Formule 1 zou moeten overwegen om een ​​speciale band of speciale regels in te voeren om races zoals Monaco op te fleuren. De Grand Prix van Monaco staat er om bekend vaak een saaie en dure optocht te zijn. 

Ook dit jaar was er weinig te smullen voor liefhebbers van inhaalacties toen zij keken naar de MonacoGP.

Grip

De huidige bolides zouden te groot en te snel zijn voor Monaco, de Formule 1 auto's zouden uit het jasje van Monte Carlo zijn gegroeid. Zo klagen coureurs steevast over een gebrek aan grip op de baan die normaal gesproken helemaal geen racebaan is. 

"In zo'n race dwars door een stad zijn de banden erg belangrijk, vooral in Monaco", vertelde de 39-jarige tweevoudig wereldkampioen Alonso aan Soy Motor.

"Ik denk dat de Formule 1 zou moeten overwegen om voor Monaco een speciale band te ontwikkelen die niet op andere circuits wordt gebruikt", zei de Alpine-coureur.

Alonso doet nog een aantal suggesties om de race in  Monaco spannender te maken voor de fans van de Formule 1.

Speciale regels voor een speciale race

Alonso: "Of dwing bijvoorbeeld iedereen gewoon om de zachtste banden te gebruiken om te voorkomen dat ze de hardere banden gebruiken. Monaco is een bijzondere race, dus het kan de moeite waard zijn om er een paar speciale regels voor te bedenken."

Monaco hoort bij F1

Sommigen denken dat de Formule 1 het legendarische Prinsdom helemaal is ontgroeid, maar Mercedes-baas Toto Wolff pleit ervoor om gewoon in Monaco te blijven racen.

"Monaco staat voor Formule 1", zei de Mercedes-baas."Het is glamour, het is opwindend, en ja, het is één van de circuits waar minder wordt ingehaald."

Wolff vervolgt zijn betoog: "Maar als je mij vraagt ​​of we erbij moeten zijn, zeg ik 100 procent ja. Het is één van de belangrijkste Grand Prix' van het jaar."

Zoals de focus houden voor de hele race. Een foutje wordt gelijk afgestraft. In mijn ogen hoort Monaco zeker op de F1 kalender, overigens zijn ook races zoals Abu Dhabi vaak niet om aan te zien, maar daar worden foutjes niet afgestraft.

      Ik vindt dat Alonso hier een heel goed idee spuit, en dat heeft helemaal niks te maken met zijn eigen prestaties. Het is gewoon een idee vanuit zijn ervaring, hoe men de GP van Monaco evtl met legitieme (geen kunstmatige) middelen kan oppeppen. Als de banden zo zacht zijn dat de auto's aan de weg kleven, dan kan er hoogstwaarschijnlijk wel worden ingehaald. Als men bovendien de harde band hier verbied, krijg je automatisch ook meer actie (en strategische mogelijkheden in de pits). Dat zijn 2 dingen die het tot een heel spannende race kunnen maken.

      Nou dat zie ik niet hoor Stitch.......al zet je er spekkies onder dan kom je een ander nog steeds niet voorbij want die rijdt er ook op.
      Of dacht je dat de een of ander even buitenom kon inhalen in de Rascasse of zo ?

      Ik vind dat als je "ik vindt" schrijft, je gediskwalificeerd bent van het plaatsen van een reactie tot je de lagere school hebt afgerond met op z'n minst een voldoende voor Nederlands.

      Die band met het dunnere loopvlak zou oorspronkelijk ook alleen voor 3 à 4 races, waarbij hoge temperaturen werden verwacht, worden gebruikt. Maar Mercedes ging er veel beter op , dus werd het het daarop volgende seizoen de standaard. Mocht toevallig Mercedes ook op die nieuwe "Monaco band" beter gaan dan de andere teams. Dan zullen ze ongetwijfeld de FIA bewerken om dat de nieuwe standaard band te maken. Dat gaat ze niet lukken? Kijk maar naar de flexibele vleugels, een paar keer klagen door Mercedes en de regels (is meetmethode) worden tijdens het seizoen al aangepast.

    Het is wat ,één echt bijzonder circuit , waar het voornamelijk gaat om de focus de hele race vast te houden , en de quali niet te vergeten, één foutje en je bent de sigaar… Waarom zou je dat weer moeten/willen aanpassen?
