Leclerc wil wel vaker op deze manier strijden om de winst

Hoewel hij in eerste instantie gefrustreerd was dat hij niet kon winnen in Groot-Brittannië, is Charles Leclerc nu wel erg positief gestemd over het feit dat hij überhaupt mee kon knokken voor de bokalen. 

Terwijl de Franse Grand Prix nog uitliep op een zeperd van jewelste, gaat het nu weer de stukken beter met Scuderia Ferrari. Leclerc werd een aantal ronden voor het einde de Grand Prix op Silverstone ingehaald door Lewis Hamilton, die er met de winst vandoor ging. 

Toch zijn het de positieven die blijven hangen bij de Ferrari-coureur uit Monaco. Zijn tweede plaats op Silverstone was het eerste podium voor Leclerc sinds 2019. F1TV wil van hem weten of hij dit resultaat denkt te kunnen herhalen in Hongarije, over ruim een week in Budapest. 

Leclerc: "Ja, ik bedoel het is goed om optimistisch te zijn en wij willen allemaal positief zijn na de laatste drie races. Toch moeten wij ook realistisch blijven", zo benadrukte Leclerc na de Grand Prix op Silverstone. 

Hij legt verder uit wat hij bedoelt: "Natuurlijk, het is goed en wij zitten in een goede modus, maar ik heb het gevoel dat het nog wat te optimistisch is om te denken dat wij voor de overwinning kunnen gaan in Budapest. Ik zou blij zijn als wij gewoon vlak achter de twee topteams zitten. 

Na Silverstone is de droom bij Ferrari om dit seizoen 'best of the rest' te worden weer springlevend, zo zei teambaas Mattia Binotto al eerder deze week. 

Met zijn tweede plaats op Silverstone staat Leclerc nu zesde in het kampioenschap. Ferrari vecht met McLaren om de derde plek in het rijtje voor constructeurs, maar Ferrari heeft nog 15 punten tekort op McLaren.

De Grand Prix in Budapest is begin augustus, daarna breekt de zomervakantie aan voor de Formule 1-teams.

Ik vond dat hij afgelopen weekend ook echt weinig moeite deed om te winnen. Het waren nog twee rondes en hij ging gewoon aan de kant. Ja hij had overstuur, maar dat kwam door zijn eigen fout doordat hij dacht dat Hamilton naast hem reed. Dus Charles als je volgende keer nog 2 ronde te gaan hebt, ... [Lees verder]

    Leclerc maakt een gewoonte van net niet winnen. Eerst die motoruitval, toen in Oostenrijk 2 rondes voor het einde ingehaald. Nu Hamilton.

    Maar goed dat hij er twee heeft weten te winnen.

      In dat geval had Leclerc ook in die zelfde muur gelegen als Verstappen. Was de zelfde bocht volgens mij.

      Hamilton zat bij Leclerc veel verder na de binnenkant dan bij Max. Ik vind gewoon als je zo minimaal mee doet voor overwinningen waarom neem je geen risico’s. Ja een tweede plaats is leuk, maar over 1 jaar weet niemand meer wie 2e is geworden.

      Heb sowieso het gevoel dat iedereen maar aan de kant gaat voor Hamilton. Norris hetzelfde. Dat gevecht duurde nog geen 2 bochten en hij was er al voorbij, waarbij hij wel een halve race Bottas achter zich hield.
      Lewis heeft een status in dit veld waarbij iedere engineer tegen de coureur lijkt te roepen 'laat hem maar zo snel mogelijk voorbij, anders verliezen we alleen maar tijd, want hij haalt je toch wel in'.

      Leclerc was volkomen kansloos, twee ronden was gezien het snelheidsverschil veel te veel. Dan kun je als een gek gaan verdedigen maar dat heeft weinig zin. Wat dat betreft heeft Leclerc verstandig gereden, hij denkt alleen maar aan punten voor het team nu.

      Zijn eerste winst viel door het putje doordat een cilinder er mee stopte. Leclerc viel terug naar 3de plek.

      In Oostenrijk haalde Verstappen hem in 2 rondes voor het einde. Kan ook 3 rondes geweest zijn.

      Voel je vooral niet aangesproken, Redcar. Leclerc komt er wel met een goede auto onder zijn bips. Maar op dit moment verliest hij vaaker net dan dat hij net wint.

      @snailer Maar je refereert dus naar gebeurtenissen van twee jaar geleden. Toen hij zijn eerste jaar voor de scuderia reed. We weten wat er daarna gebeurd is met Ferrari. Ik blijf het daarom een vreemd besluit vinden. Als hij net niet wint, heeft hij het eigenlijk gedurende die hele malaise uiterst goed gedaan. En voor de duidelijkheid, ik ben fan van Ferrari, als Sainz potten breekt, ga ik niet huilen om Leclerc. ;-)

    Over het derde team worden...

    Zie Lando en Leclerc verder wel steeds dichtbij elkaar zitten.
    De beslissende factor zullen m.i. vooral Daniël en Carlos vormen.

    Wat dat betreft zet ik in op Ferrari.
    En anders wordt het McLaren...

    Ik wist wel dat hij maandag fluitend zijn leclaireke ging halen bij de warme bakker. Toppertje die heel binnenkort terug zal winnen op regelmatige basis. RBR/Honda failliet en Lewis bij een team op de terugweg. Lets race Lando, Russel en Alonso ofte Mclaren, Williams en Alpine.
