Leclerc steunt Norris: "Kwestie van tijd voordat hij wint"

Lando Norris was na de Russische Grand Prix compleet gebroken. De jonge Brit vergooide een bijna zekere zege in de plotsklapse regenbuien in Sotsji. De normaal zo enthousiaste Brit verscheen na afloop compleet terneergeslagen voor de camera's. Gelukkig voor Norris krijgt hij veel steun, ook van zijn meelevende collega's.

Charles Leclerc is ervaringsdeskundige op het gebied van het verspillen van een eerste zege. In 2019 was de Monegask dicht bij een briljante zege in Bahrein tot het noodlot toesloeg. De Ferrari-coureur kreeg motorproblemen en viel in de slotfase terug naar de derde plaats. Ook hij was toen finaal gesloopt en kan vanuit die ervaring nu Norris steunen.

In gesprek met Motorsport.com doet Leclerc een aantal opbeurende uitspraken: "Ik kan mij voorstellen hoe hij zich voelt. Hij is waarschijnlijk onderdeel van het beslissingsproces in dergelijke situaties en hij voelt zich mogelijk heel schuldig. Hij is een geweldige coureur, dat heeft hij dit seizoen vaak genoeg laten zien. Hij rijdt een heel erg sterk seizoen en ik weet zeker dat hij hier heel veel van leert. Het is een kwestie van tijd voordat hij zijn eerste race wint. Dus ik denk dat hij zich niet zo moet voelen na zo'n race."

Norris glibberde in de slotfase naar de pits om uiteindelijk toch naar de regenbanden te wisselen en kwam als balende nummer 7 over de finish. Hij kreeg nog wel het extra puntje voor de snelste rondje maar dat zal slechts een doekje voor het bloeden zijn.

Lando gaat zeker wel een keertje winnen. Niet dit seizoen, maar McLaren maakt zoveel progressie dat ik ze komende jaren een serieuze kans geef.
Misschien dat Norris zelfs eerder een WK titel haalt dan Verstappen. Zou mij iig niet meer verbazen gezien de ontwikkelingen.

  IK houd hem al in de gaten vanaf het begin en je zou wel eens gelijk kunnen hebben. Dat jongetje heeft alles om een van de groten te worden. Ik schat hem hoger in dan Russel.

  Maar dat McLaren RBR gaat inhalen, dát zou me niet verbazen komende jaren.

  Eerst zien dan geloven. Als ik Seidl zo hoor dan verwachten ze pas echt de volgende stap te kunnen zetten met de nieuwe windtunnel en simulator. Die komen vanwege corona later dan oorspronkelijk gepland.

hij heeft al kansen gehad, Meestal blijft die pechduivel wel hangen, Dit jaar moet het gebeuren. Volgend jaar kan het zo maar zo zijn dat hij helemaal geen kansen meer krijgt.

Lando gaat zeker GP’s winnen of dat dit seizoen zal gebeuren is nog de vraag. Hij zat er al paar keer dicht bij maar omstandigheden gooide roet in eten.. McLaren heeft de laatste 2jaar grote stappen gezet om terug bolide te krijgen als vroeger, volgend jaar maakt hij zeker kans met de nieuwe regels :) good luck Lando

  @roy, vroeger was McLaren ook goed tijdens hun periode met Mercedes motor, dus ik snap niet wat je reactie van betekenis heeft? Het is McLaren zelf die vooruit gaat en niet met dezelfde motor blijft sukkelen, want Mercedes gaat niet zomaar zeggen tegen McLaren we willen dat jullie ook mee doen hier hebben je onze motor

Alhoewel ik eerst nog mijn twijfels had heeft hij mij afgelopen race definitief overtuigd. Wat een racer zeg.
