Horner over volle kalender: "Als promotor zijn zin krijgt hebben we 35 races"

Aankomend seizoen kent de langste kalender uit de geschiedenis van de Formule 1. Er staan dan namelijk 23 races op de roller en niet iedereen is daar even blij mee. Vooral bij de teams is er veel ontevredenheid, het vraagt namelijk nogal wat van de werknemers.

Ook Red Bull-bons Christian Horner ziet de kalender groeien als kool. De Brit is wel eens vrolijker geweest. Tegenover verschillende internationale media spreekt hij zich uit: "Het is een slopende kalender. Het is zoals bij elke sport. De dorst en de vraag voor Formule 1 is wat het is en we moeten dat altijd proberen te meten en te balanceren. Ik weet zeker dat we 35 races zouden hebben als de promotor zijn zin krijgt."

Volgens Horner is het dan ook belangrijk om een goede balans te vinden. Het is immers de vraag of één crew het hele drukke jaar kan doen. Horner: "Het is slopend en veeleisend. Al helemaal in deze COVID-tijden met een steeds maar veranderende kalender en triple headers. Ook logistiek gezien , met races in Brazilië en het Midden-Oosten. Het is zwaar, heel erg zwaar."

Ik vind zelf 20 een prima aantal. Echt weer Amerikaans om teveel van het goede te willen. Een Grand Prix mag best bijzonder zijn en blijven, niet dat je elk weekend wel een raceje hebt. Hetzelfde geldt voor die Sprintraces.

    Wat Ecclestone eerder zei: Overvolle kalender verpest gezinnen, is helemaal waar.
    Als je kwaliteit wilt, dan moet je een bescheiden kalender hebben, of een hoger budget zodat je meer mensen in dienst kunt hebben...

    35 races per jaar is ook wel heul errug veul... Dan weet ik zeker dat ik er een aantal zal missen... Nu mis ik er altijd al een paar per jaar...

    Een overvolle racekalender strookt daarnaast ook niet bepaald met het duurzame karakter wat LM met de F1 heel graag wil uitstralen. Iedere extra race betekent o.a. extra (logistiek) verkeer en dus extra uitstoot.

    Ik neem aan dat het in 1 -2 jaar wel verkocht zal worden aan 1 of andere kamelen drijver, ze zijn het een beetje aan het oppoetsen voor de verkoop.

      Nou, vooruit dan. hoeveel races , welk weekend en hoe wil je ze verdeeld hebben over de continenten.Welke races wil je een sprint race
      en zijn er nog speciale eisen over wanneer welke race zou moeten zijn. Helaas zit een race op de zeebodem er niet in. De snorkels braken op het rechte stuk af.

    rond de 20 a 22 is echt meer dan voldoende. maar heb niet het idee dat de organisatoren echt naar de teams of de fans luisteren. Enkel de galm van hun nog niet vol genoeg zijnde portemonnee horen zij....
