Ricciardo wisselt motor, start achteraan

Lewis Hamilton en Carlos Sainz zijn niet de enige coureurs die een motorstraf krijgen in Turkije. Na een rampzalige kwalificatie heeft McLaren namelijk besloten om bijna de gehele motor van Daniel Ricciardo te wisselen. Dit betekent dat hij achteraan zal starten.

De Australiër kende een waanzinnig slechte kwalificatie. Hij kwam niet door Q1 heen en reed slechts de zestiende tijd. Een enorme domper voor de man die enkele races geleden nog wist te winnen in Monza. Ook teamgenoot Lando Norris had geen geweldige kwalificatie en werd achtste.

Nu heeft McLaren van een nood een deugd gemaakt. Ze wisselen de ICE, turbocharger, MGU-H en het exhaust system. Bijna alle wissels zijn er eentje te veel en dus genoeg voor een penalty. Ricciardo zal Carlos Sainz naast hem vinden op de achterste startrij. Het is nog niet duidelijk wie de laatste startplaats gaat innemen.

    Even iets anders: overal lees je Andretti to F1...

    Iedereen weet dat Andretti's pareltje, Colton Herta is.
    Herta zou over 3 seizoenen uitkomen op 32 licentiepunten, maar twre vragen aan jullie, mocht iemand dit weten:
    - geld de versoepeling van 30 punten i.v.m corona nog steeds?
    - was er niet een soort uitzondering voor Indycar dat deze coureurs in de top 6 mogen eindigen om een aanvraag te mogen doen?

      Tyla, heb niet echt de antwoorden, maar neem wel aan dat een coureur met de statuur van een Colton Herta die voorin rijd in de Indycar toestemming krijgt om om in de F1 te rijden.
      Grote vraag is vooral: waarom zou je, als je vooraan rijd in de Indycar, daar met regelmaat races wint en kans maakt daar kampioen te worden, in hemelsnaam instappen in een achterhoede team in de F1 om dan elke race op een ronde gezet te worden door de toppers en heel blij te zijn als je een keer 8e word?

      MWHT@ daar heb ik geen antwoord op, al weet ik wel dat Andretti graag zijn ster zou willen meten aan F1 geweld. Bottas zou dan een mooi meetpunt zijn. Herta is nog jong en kan nog jaren winnen in Indycar waardoor een jaartje F1 misschien wel erg aantrekkelijk is. Ook i.v.m. zijn eigen ontwikkeling misschien wel een mooie kans.

      Lijkt mij dat Ricciardo achterna start aangezien Sainz hoger gekwalificeerd heeft.

      Dat is ook duidelijk. Hele motor per definitie achteraan. De laatste die een hele motor wisseld, start achteraan.

      Wanneer dat bepaald is, komt de categorie gridstraffen aanbod. Deze categorie staat dus altijd voor een volledige motorwissel.

      Valt het kwartje dan eindelijk eens Max zijn kant op?
      Hamilton zei net tijdens de Drivers Parade dat dit de eerste keer was dat hij tussen andere coureurs start onder deze omstandigheden (of zoiets).
      Bottas komt slecht weg op de Inters 😜,
      Leclerc heeft te weinig downforce 😜,
      dan blijft alleen Alonso nog over die het Max moeilijk kan maken bij de start. 😉

      Pietje, denk dat Max zich heel veel zorgen mag maken om Leclerc die aan de goede kant start. en ook om Gasly, denk ik.
      Maar laten we hopen dat hij heel goed weg komt en aub geen herhaling van de start van vorig jaar!
