Norris trots op populariteit: "Ik doe andere dingen als ik thuis ben, streamen bijvoorbeeld"

Gisteren werd bekend welke coureurs het populairst zijn bij de fans. Lando Norris kwam als de nummer twee uit de bus en was veruit de grote winnaar bij de fans onder de 24 jaar. Ook bij de vrouwelijke fans was de Britse McLaren-man onverminderd populair.

Norris zelf is toch wel in zijn nopjes met zijn uitverkiezing. Hij wordt geciteerd door Motorsport.com: "Een overwinning is voor mij een overwinning op de baan maar om deze kleine dingen naast het circuit te hebben is leuk. Voor zowel het team als mijzelf is het leuk."

De Brit heeft wel een verklaring waarom hij zo populair is onder de jeugdige fans: "Ik doe natuurlijk andere dingen als ik thuis ben. Denk aan streamen op Twitch enzo, al heb ik dat al eventjes niet meer gedaan. Maar het gaat allemaal over het iets meer in contact staan met de fans, dat is gewoon cool."

Indruk

De McLaren-man is zich daarnaast ook bewust van het feit dat hij ook iets kan achter laten bij de jeugd: "Maar ik weet ook dat ik een bepaalde indruk kan achterlaten op die jongere generatie kids die opgroeien. Ook bij de iets oudere generatie. Het is leuk om te weten dat ze mij supporten."
