Williams voegt Logan Sargeant toe aan juniorenprogramma

Williams heeft een nieuwe jongeling vastgelegd voor hun talentenprogramma. In Austin maakte het Britse team bekend dat de jonge Amerikaan Logan Sargeant is toegevoegd aan hun Williams Driver Academy. De 20-jarige coureur zal simulatorwerk gaan doen en mee lopen op het circuit.

Sargeant reed de afgelopen drie jaar rond in de Formule 3. Hij reed dit jaar voor het team van Charouz en won in Sotsji een van de races. Hij finishte uiteindelijk als zevende in het wereldkampioenschap. Een jaar eerder deed hij het significant beter en schreef hij meerdere races op zijn naam met een derde plaats in het kampioenschap als resultaat.

Sargeant is zeker niet de enige in de Williams Driver Academy. De jonge Amerikaan gaat W-Series kampioen Jamie Chadwick, Roy Nissany en enkelvoudig Formule 1 Jack Aitken gezelschap houden. Tot voor kort zat ook Dan Ticktum in het juniorenprogramma maar de discutabele Brit verliet het team afgelopen augstus.

Mooi voor hem. Talentvolle jongen die door gebrek aan budget geen plekje in de F2 kon bemachtigen en daardoor pas laat (weer) een stoeltje in F3 kreeg en daarom niet meer bij één van de topteams rijdt.
Hopelijk helpt dit hem om volgend seizoen alsnog F2 te rijden en zich zo verder te ontwikkelen.
