Marko durft geen voorspellingen te doen: "Het zit zo dicht op elkaar"

Dit weekend gaat de titelstrijd weer verder in Mexico. Voorheen was dit circuit altijd echt Red Bull-terrein maar nu is eigenlijk niets meer zeker. Red Bull won immers al eerder op Mercedes-circuits en het muntje kan dus ook zomaar de andere kant opvallen. Niets is meer wat het lijkt.

Ook Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko is zich zeer bewust van dit feit. De Oostenrijker spreekt zich uit in gesprek met Gazzetta dello Sport: "Het zit zo dicht op elkaar dat het moeilijk is om te zeggen welke circuit beter bij welke auto past. In Brazilië en Mexico speelt de hoogte echter ook een rol. In Austin liet ons pakket zien dat het sterk is, we vonden de juiste afstelling. Elke keer is het nodig om een manier te vinden om de banden op temperatuur te krijgen."

Marko heeft daarnaast ook wel door dat de coureurs een heel belangrijke rol spelen in de kampioensstrijd. Hij spreekt zich uit: "Max is nu 24 jaar oud, dat is de leeftijd om volwassen te worden. Dat zag je in Turkije, daar was het heel gevaarlijk om Bottas aan te vallen. Lewis heeft veel ervaring en weet wat hij moet doen. Hij vecht met zijn verstand."

      Zou kunnen..maar niet waarschijnlijk. Volgens mij nam Ver de eerste jaren veel risico's. Reed op het randje en er soms over. Dat leverde naast fantastische momenten ook puntverlies op. Hij is...enorm gegroeid, lijkt het.

      Maar hij zat niet in een Mercedes. Omdat hij liever voor Marco rijdt, de man die hem vanaf zijn 16e al een kans gaf. Die man is voor Max een soort van grootvader voor hem.. Maar jij roept nu: "man schei uit", oftewel dat hij zijn kop moet houden?! 🤣 Ik weet zeker dat zelfs jouw held het met 'opa' Marco eens is.

      En "Lewis weet wat hij moet doen. Hij vecht met zijn verstand..." Nou heeft ie precies dat niet laten zien vind ik. Maar we gaan kijken of hij heeft bijgeleerd sinds Silverstone ;-)

      Stitch… Lewis is dit seizoen teveel met zijn verstand bij zijn kante jurkje en andere zaken, hij is nogal snel afgeleid…. Misschien moeten we hem Silverstone vergeven…. Hij is ook maar een mens die onder druk Max er opzettelijk van afdrukte. ( bijna vermoorde) Daar is hij voor mij door de kante mand gevallen qua coureur.

    Ik kijk er net als de vele anderen van hier ook enorm naar uit, Benieuwd hoe de Honda motor het hier nu gaat doen, voor de wegligging ben ik wat minder ongerust, de banden met de temperaturen die worden verwacht zou een factoor zijn, en ik hoop dat Max 100% fit is.

    In zijn beginjaren was Max er wellicht nog niet klaar voor (hoewel we dat nooit met zekerheid kunnen zeggen) maar de laatste pak ‘m beet drie jaar zeker wel.
    Echter, het RB-pakket (inclusief motor) was er nog niet klaar voor.
