Seidl ontkent Volkswagen geruchten: "Pure speculatie"

De geruchten over de komst van Audi en Porsche naar de Formule 1 worden met de dag luider. Volgens een van de laatste geruchten zou het best goed zo kunnen zijn dat één van de twee Volkswagen-merken motorleverancier gaat worden van McLaren.

Het zijn geen bijzondere geluiden. McLaren-teambaas Andreas Seidl was in het verleden namelijk in dienst bij het WEC-team van Porsche en dat was een zeer succesvolle periode. Toch wil de Duister helemaal niets weten van de geruchten omtrent zijn team.

Speculatie

Seidl is heel erg duidelijk tegenover Sport1. Hij spreekt zich uit: "Dat is pure speculatie. Ik wil er niet op reageren. We zijn heel erg tevreden met onze motorpartner Mercedes en dat partnerschap bestaat al vele jaren. We focussen ons alleen hierop."

Geruchten

Naast de McLaren-geruchten zijn er nog veel meer geruchten over mogelijke samenwerkingsverbanden van de Volkswagen-merken. Er zijn namelijk ook veel verhalen over een mogelijke samenwerking met Red Bull. Ook het team van Williams wordt zeer vaak genoemd.

    Het is afwachten, maar denk dat het enkel Volkswagen kan worden. Het zou natuurlijk vreemd zijn als Porsche het zou zijn die de motoren gaat leveren aan McLaren, het zijn toch concurrenten van elkaar.
