Ricciardo wil eigen data delen en goede teamgenoot zijn voor Norris

Daniel Ricciardo probeert een goede teamgenoot te zijn voor Lando Norris, want de twee moeten samenwerken om de nieuwe McLaren MCL36 goed te begrijpen en te verbeteren. Daarom wil de goedlachse Australiër dan ook graag zijn data delen met Norris, iets dat niet standaard gebeurt in de F1.

Andreas Seidl heeft duidelijk gemaakt dat noch Ricciardo, noch Norris de nummer één-status zullen hebben, want ze gaan hun tweede seizoen in als teamgenoten bij McLaren. Het team uit Woking testte afgelopen week in Barcelona, samen met de andere 9 Formule 1-teams en wist haar programma te voltooien zonder echte problemen. McLaren zou één van de teams zijn die het porpoising probleem, veroorzaakt door de auto's van dit jaar en hun sterk veranderde vloeren, al heeft opgelost.

Juiste richting

Ricciardo, die met 212 ronden de op één na drukste coureur op de baan was zegt dat hij McLaren zo veel mogelijk gedetailleerde feedback heeft gegeven. Gegevens die hij ook deelt met zijn Britse teamgenoot, die 155 ronden reed over het Spaanse circuit. Ricciardo: "Ik geef zo veel mogelijk feedback. Op dit moment van het jaar geef je echt alles omdat de tijd doortikt. Ik denk dat je in een raceweekend altijd probeert om in korte tijd efficient te zijn. Op dit moment praat ik meer en vertel ik meer, ook omdat ik denk dat er nooit te veel informatie kan worden gegeven."

"Ik probeer ze alles te geven en dan praat ik met Lando. Ik denk dat dit een belangrijke tijd van het jaar is om met je teamgenoot samen te werken en echt te proberen om elkaar op dezelfde golflengte te krijgen, om het team vervolgens in de juiste richting te duwen."

Betrouwbaarheid

Dat McLaren zo snel was tijdens de testsessies heeft sommige experts doen geloven dat het topteam van weleer weer aan kan sluiten bij Mercedes en Red Bull. De vele ronden geven aan dat de betrouwbaarheid ook op orde is.

"Het was een goede testweek vanuit vele invalshoeken," zei Ricciardo. "Ik denk dat de betrouwbaarheid geweldig was. Dat komt op het conto van het team en iedereen die hard heeft gewerkt om deze auto in elkaar te zetten, dus ik wil ze enorm bedanken. Ze zijn echt geweldig om een hele nieuwe auto te bouwen, hem op de baan te zetten en hem zo soepel te laten rijden, dus nogmaals hartelijk dank aan het team."

ik zou er anders in staan, niks data delen, als mijn teamgenoot data wil hebben dan kan hij het van mij kopen. Voor niks gaan de zon op.

  Het lijkt mij dat Ricciardo verwijst naar deze cruciale winterperiode, ook omdat er tijdens het seizoen niet of nauwelijks wordt getest. Misschien deelt hij tijdens de raceweekenden niet zoveel meer, maar nu dus wel. Uiteindelijk hebben ze er beide belang bij dat McLaren in Bahrein een solide auto heeft.
