Seidl hekelt b-teams: "Maken ons best wat zorgen"

Aankomend seizoen staan er tien teams op de grid. De meeste van deze teams draaien al flink wat jaartjes mee en slechts een enkeling mag zich echt een topteam noemen. Men kijkt graag van elkaar af en soms vinden de teams elkaar bij de ontwikkeling van de bolides. Volgens enkele teams gaat dat er iets te innig aan toe.

In de Formule 1 rijden immers al jaren enkele b-teams rond. Het is algemeen bekend dat de banden tussen Red Bull Racing en AlphaTauri nogal innig zijn, de twee teams zijn immers allebei van Red Bull. Daarnaast werkt het team van Haas als sinds hun entree nogal innig samen met Ferrari. De Italianen leveren motoren en juniorcoureur Mick Schumacher rijdt voor de Amerikaanse ploeg.

Geen geheim

Bij het team van McLaren zijn ze niet zo tevreden over de samenwerkingsverbanden van de concurrentie. Teambaas Andreas Seidl is tegenover Motorsport.com nogal kritisch: "Alle teams zijn tijdens de testweken druk met zichzelf. Ik kan dus niet al te veel zeggen over de wagens van bijvoorbeeld Ferrari en Haas. Maar het is geen groot geheim dat dit soort samenwerkingen kunnen bestaan onder de huidige reglementen."

Zorgen

De samenwerkingsverbanden zijn een zorgenkindje van Seidl en co. De Duitse teambaas wil graag dat de sport snel maatregelen neemt op dit gebied: "Wij maken ons best wel zorgen over deze gang van zaken. We zijn dan ook van mening dat we maatregelen moet nemen zodat de Formule 1 weer een kampioenschap wordt van 10, 11 of 12 echte constructeurs. Het enige wat je dan mag delen zijn versnellingsbakken en power units."

    Mooi verhaal, maar waarom en waarover Seidl zich zorgen maakt blijft gissen. Ik kan wel wat verzinnen, maar dan verzand ik in aannames.

      Ik begin alvast met die aannames. Te veel allianties. Al bestaat dat ook al door ieders motorleverancier.

      Een Mercedes heeft Hierdoor meer zeggenschap dan de combi Renault en RB/HRC.

      Als Mclaren nou slim is... pushen ze Andretti erin. Brown en Andretti zijn al veelvuldig goede partners gebleken.

      Seidl kan natuurlijk niet openlijk zeggen waar hij andere teams van verdenkt, maar de realiteit is natuurlijk dat het eerder een beetje gek zou zijn als er geen info wordt gedeeld tussen bijvoorbeeld AT en RB die in de voorbereiding van dit seizoen ook van dezelfde windtunel gebruik zijn gaan maken, d.w.z. AT die nu die van RB gebruikt.

      Maar als we eerlijk zijn dan kan het ook haast niet anders dan dat die budgetcap door de teams op creatieve manieren gedeeltelijk worden omzeild en je maakt mij ook niet wijs dat het maximaal CFD uren te controleren valt. Het is natuurlijk erg gemakkelijk om ergens anders dan in de fabriek een CFD te laten draaien.
      En ook wat betreft die zomerstop waarbij ieder jaar formeel alle actieviteiten worden gestaakt is dat een farce, de fabriek is wel dicht, maar dat wil niet zeggen dat er door een team gewoon online doorgwerkt kan worden.

    Oud verhaal, ik ben benieuwd waar hij 11 tot 12 zelfstandige teams vandaan wil halen in deze tijd. Nee we moeten blij zijn dat er nog geïnfesteerd wordt in de F1 en het staat hem toch vrij om ook zo'n team te starten.

      Yep, denk dat we zonder samenwerkingsverbanden echt geen 20 autootjes meer op de grid zullen zien. Het is meer een noodzakelijk kwaad wat dat betreft. In de Moto GP bijv barst het ook niet voor niets van de satelietteams, anders is het voor veel teams gewoon simpelweg financieel onhaalbaar om mee te doen. Het is een soort van voedselbank voor kleinere raceteam.

    Er komen de laatste tijd wel veel van dergelijke berichten uit het McLarenkamp, beetje stuivertje wisselen tussen Brown en Seidl over wat er niet goed is in de F1-wereld. Straks wordt ik nog McLarenmoe en dat wil ik niet....
