Gasly en Alonso krijgen nieuwe ICE, ook Perez wisselt motorcomponenten

Het is pas het tweede raceweekend van het jaar maar toch hebben enkele coureurs al nieuwe motoronderdelen ontvangen in Saoedi-Arabië. Twee coureurs rijden in Jeddah rond met een gloednieuwe ICE en verder zijn er nog meer onderdelen vernieuwd. In totaal hebben drie coureurs nieuwe motoronderdelen ontvangen.

Pierre Gasly en Fernando Alonso hebben allebei een gloednieuwe ICE ontvangen. Voor Gasly is dit geen grote verrassing aangezien hij in Bahrein uitviel met een wagen waar de vlammen uitsloegen. Ook Sergio Perez heeft de nodige nieuwe onderdelen ontvangen. De Mexicaanse Red Bull-coureur heeft een nieuwe turbocharger en MGU-H ontvangen, opvallend aangezien dus twee coureurs met een Red Bull Powertrains-krachtbron onderdelen vervangen.

Gasly krijgt veel gloednieuwe onderdelen in Jeddah. De Fransman krijgt ook een nieuwe turbocharger, MGU-H, MGU-K, energy store, control electronics en uitlaatsysteem. Bij Alpine-coureur Alonso worden ook zeer veel onderdelen vervangen, de rede van deze wisselingen bij de Spaanse coureur zijn niet duidelijk.

Gasly heeft alles nieuw gekregen zodat men de eerste PU in z'n geheel naar Sakura kan sturen om te bekijken welke onderdelen gewoon weer gebruikt kunnen worden.
Bij Alonso is alles vervangen vanwege een hydraulisch probleem. Nu kunnen ze alles rustig controleren.
