Binotto vergelijkt Leclerc met Gilles Villeneuve

Het team van Ferrari is momenteel bezig met een zeer sterk seizoen. De Italiaanse renstal is weer helemaal terug aan kop en coureur Charles Leclerc rijdt zeer sterk. De Monegask is dit seizoen overduidelijk de kopman van Ferrari en wist al twee races te winnen, in Bahrein en Australië was hij de sterkste.

Leclerc staat er tevens goed voor in het wereldkampioenschap. De Monegask staat tweede, vlak achter WK-leider Max Verstappen. Leclerc werd dit seizoen al meermaals hartstochtelijk toegejuicht door de Ferrari-fans, de tribunes in Imola en Monaco kleurden rood. De populariteit van de Monegaskische coureur is groot en bij Ferrari geniet men ervan.

Steun

Ferrari-teambaas Mattia Binotto is trots op de prestaties van zijn coureur. Binotto ziet zelfs gelijkenissen met Ferrari-held Gilles Villeneuve. De hartstochtelijk steun is bijzonder, zo stelt Binotto tegenover de internationale media: "Er zijn slechts een paar coureurs die dat voor elkaar krijgen. Ik denk dat Charles een van die coureurs is, net als Gilles. Als je kijkt naar Charles zijn manier van rijden, zijn zijn talent, zijn passie en de passie van de fans, dat is iets wat ik essere Ferrari noem."

Passie

Binotto vindt deze belevenis van Leclerc zeer uniek. De Monegask maakt volgens de teambaas iets los wat hem dus doet denken aan de legendarische Villeneuve: "Gilles was fantastisch en won slechts zes races maar toch blijft hij voor altijd onderdeel van ons team. Het ging echt over zijn manier van rijden, zijn gedrag en zijn passie. Ik denk dat Charles dat ook heeft. Dat zorgt ervoor dat wij hard gaan werken. We hopen dat hij meer dan zes races gaan winnen."

whahah nou dan adviseer ik Binnoto om even een aantal docu's van Villeneuve te bekijken, de passie van Villeneuve de ethos en de hele benadering van deze was echt totaal anders , veel recalcitranter en Villeneuve liet zich echt niet gek maken! ik zie een wereld van verschil even los van dat alles maar goed wie ben ik

  Charles is toch veel te veel een "nice guy" op de baan om vergeleken te worden met Giles en ik denk ook nog te veel een "nice guy" op de baan om het WK te kunnen pakken dit jaar

  Villeneuve liet zich wel degelijk gek maken. Heb m wel een aantal keer onder druk naast de baan zien raken. Ik vond het een spectaculaire rijder, ongelooflijke rauwe snelheid maar zeer ongepolijst en wild. Ontembaar bijna, je zag m wel groeien en wat minder gekke acties uithalen, maar Leclerc is veel berekender. Alesi kwam voor mij het dichts bij de stijl van Villeneuve.

Linke vergelijking, Mattia. Gilles was (nog) veel meer onbesuist dan die van Charles. Die rijstijl leverde Gilles zijn heldenstatus op maar helaas ook zijn voortijdige dood. Ik hoop van harte dat het Charles anders zal vergaan...

  Misschien is @Ouw bereid om een paar straten verderop te gaan wonen en de startplek van de blote tietenparade wat te verleggen zodat ze eerst bij jou door de straat komen en daarna pas bij hem. Tegen die tijd is het zaakje misschien ook wat meer uitgezakt, conform @Ouw's maatstaven.
