Marko zag één minpuntje: "Longruns waren niet bevredigend"

Het team van Red Bull Racing begon gisteren met Max Verstappen goed aan het Canadese Grand Prix-weekend. De Nederlander was in de twee vrije trainingen de snelste en dat stemde hem zeer tevreden. Zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez was in de afgelopen races zeer snel maar in Montreal moest hij op vrijdag tijd toegeven.

Perez noteerde in de eerste vrije training de vierde tijd op bijna een halve seconde van Verstappen. In de tweede vrije training ging het minder voor de Mexicaan, hij reed slechts de elfde tijd op ruim een seconde van zijn teamgenoot. Ook zag men bij Red Bull nog een ander minder punt, de longruns waren nog niet wat men wilde.

Longruns

Teamadviseur Helmut Marko was na afloop gematigd tevreden. De Oostenrijker wist waardoor de longruns tegenvielen en dat deelde hij met zijn landgenoten van ORF: "De longruns waren zeker niet bevredigend. Dat kwam omdat Verstappen elke keer in het verkeer terecht kwam. We moeten ook nog wat werken aan de afstelling maar gelukkig was de snelheid van Max over een enkele ronde veel beter. Ons totaalpakket is goed, we moeten alleen nog de afstelling finetunen."

Aftstelling

Ook over de tegenvallende prestaties van Perez deelde Marko de oorzaak. Toch is de Oostenrijker wel positief over de vrijdag van de Mexicaan, Marko is positief gestemd: "Zijn rondje was echt niet perfect. Laten we bij he positieve beginnen want het zag er weer goed uit. Het was niet alleen de optimale afstelling die het team voor Checo had uitgekozen. Zoals ik al eerder zei, het rondje was nog niet perfect."

  De teambaas die een norse blik doorgaans afwisselt met een brede grijns van het Amerikaanse team had allang ingegrepen.
  Maar het kleine opdondertje van RB met de sluwe glimlach en een kameel in zijn slaapkamer kijkt het met leden ogen aan.
  Terwijl de gekrulde teambaas van het scharlakenrode team uit Maranello,
  de gevulde teambaas van het papaya oranje team uit Woking en
  de niet-gekrulde teambaas met de harde vuistjes van het zilveren team uit Brackley om het hoekje staan te gieren van het lachen...

  Is er een website waar je de tijden van de long runs zijn terug te vinden? op mclarenf-1 is niets terug te vinden.

Had ik al gezien. Sainz was gemiddeld 2 tiende sneller dan Verstappen tijdens race simulatie. Die reed deze ook op geel. Leclerc was op rood langzamer. Ook in het begin van zijn stint.

  VT1 deden Max en Carlos allebei een longrun op Medium, Max was veel sneller. In VT2 deed Carlos zijn longrun op Soft. Pas op het einde deed hij 3 rondjes op geel. Dus ik vraag me af of je het wel goed hebt gezien.

  Ik dacht echt geel te hebben gezien op F1 Tempo (handige site als je gps data wil bekijken)
  Ik heb dus wederom gekeken.
  Sainz reed 2 korste "long runs" eerst een paar op rood waar hij wat langzamer mee was dan Verstappen op geel. Daarna switchte Sainz naar geel. Ik had een beetje gelijk dat die rondjes op geel snel waren. Echter was dat over 4 rondjes. 1 rondje was veel sneller dan Verstappen:17.1. Maar voor de rest redelijk gelijkwaardig maar wel met jongere banden.
  
  Dank dat je me er op gewezen hebt. Maar juist de snelste rondes van Sainz waren op Geel. Rood lijkt daarbij geen kandidaad voor de race eigenlijk.

  Hmmm, filter... hoop dat de post komt. We hebben alle twee een beetje gelijk. Sainz deed 2 korte runs. 1 op rood en 1 op geel.

Zie hier kansen voor Alonso, reed op hardere banden vergelijkbare longeuns als Verstappen

  Alonso ging inderdaad hard. Maar was over een paar rondjes. Volgens de mensen die commentaar gaven hadden de Renaults een lichte auto. Licht ten opzichte van Ferrari en Red Bull. Geen idee of het waar is. Maar zou mooi zijn voor de race als Alonso er bij zit. Voor Leclerc zal dat wat minder zijn aangezien die van achter komt.
